Dwarf Fortress v13 - Orkel looses a roaring laughter, fell and terrible!

Thinking of starting my first proper megaproject, probably going to build a pillar like thing and use that as a fort. And suspend it over the magma sea.
Trying to fix the thread: (EDIT: Hey, it worked! :unsmith:)
Sorry if I still ask about this, but wasn't it possible before to create a fortress in DF mode, and explore it in adventure mode? So this isn't possible anymore either?

It's possible but only when the fort is abandoned. Can't have both fort and adventurer alive in same world at the same time, always been like that.
I have a fun idea for a challange. keep a single male dwarf cage, slaughter any male children, and have a completely female civilization. This. Shall. Be. Interesting.
Too bad it takes dwarves so damn long to breed
Also it'd probably be hard to kill 50% of the population and have the other 50% not get terribly depressed
In one of my fortresses I atom smashed about 20 children and the tantrums were minimal.
I don't have the option to view my militia commander's kills anymore, did he remove it in the latest update?
Saw this in the funny pictures thread

Did vultures get buffed?
My woodcutter went to go and drink booze from our wagon (which was being plundered by vultures at the time) and basically had his scalp, and then face torn off by one of the vultures who was trying to steal booze.
What's the easiest way of cheating a single item into a running fortress? I don't feel like losing another dwarf to fey mood and he is most probably requesting a turtle shells with no turtles available.

I was not aware this was possible.

Vanilla dwarf heads are made of paper. Everything will crush the skull into the brain.
Even training spears? When did this happen?
Before this update none of my dwarves ever died from a danger room; but now two of my dwarves were just impaled by them.
I'm having real trouble with this game, I can't find any iron, copper, or any metal I can make weapons out of. Just lotsa spheralite.

Have them wear hats.

Yeah, just sending in Dorfs without any form of armor is a fucking stupid idea. If you can't afford iron, just make it out of bone or copper.
Oh fuck. I accidentally mined to lava and got my miner killed...
Although apparently, lava makes your dwarfs bleed to death. :raise:

It melts their skin+fat+flesh causing massive bleeding.
Hurr, why is there no iron here?!
You know how most dwarfes in strange moods produce legendary caps, or socks, or some shit like that?
My dwarf just made a legendary scepter! Hell yeah!
...well, actually, this kinda sucks, I can't trade it or anything. Socks can be worn, at least. Oh well.
Just recently decided to get back into and found a cold mountain range with some metals, and a frozen river i am hoping will thaw for a bit so i can store some water. If people want i can stream it and do dwarvenly things.

Doesn't it make more sense to have it do burn damage? The blood would probably evaporate on contact and the vessels+capillaries would seal up with melted flesh.
New liquid type: melted dwarf. One more thing to drown elves in.

Liquid Dwarf's should have a chance to become gelatinous monsters akin to T-1000 from Terminator 2.

I once had a dwarven child make a turtle bone spear worth nearly 100k dorfbux.
That was the best fort I ever had, too. Constant goblin invasions, roaming werewolves, and an able military to take care of it all.
My military aren't training... They're in a room, scheduled on Alert/Training, but nothing's happening.
Plus, how do you equip a hunting dorf with crossbows and bolts?
I have a few more bugs I want to look at, and some sponsorship beasts to add, and then I'll put up the next release. Here's the latest:
fixed up bone artifacts
stopped crash in linux from critters with kill orders on them leaving the map
stopped a crash from tileless burrows
cleaned up a lag problem from ghosts and some other general lag issues
made recentering hotkeys work in dwarf modes with cursors
stopped surgery cancellation over patient not resting in some circumstances
fixed fish availability problems based on temperature (old saves will still be missing them)
made adv mode crafts use skill properly, involved an attribute rewrite which will also affect dwarf mode
fixed ,"" style names for historical figures in legends and gave invader mounts/monsters first names
No, really, you don't think I wouldn't check the wiki before asking here? Smartass.

Well, if you did it like the wiki said, they should train. Barracks etc. Sure they're set to active, and don't have a station order enabled?

Yeah, everything's set. Alert set to Active/Training, barracks mode set to train, but they just ..stand in the barracks.

With what job? Invidual combat drills? Waiting for X demonstration?

Just.. train. Sparring I think. I followed the wiki's sparring instructions. Also one of my dorfs randomly died in the dining room. :S
