Fuck guys, a metalsmith just got a fay mood and now he needs bodyparts! So, kill the elven caravan or kill a useless dwarf?
Bodyparts is a display bug. He actually needs something like bones (any bones will do)/turtle shell or so.
Anyone? :frown:
I can't see why they wouldn't get it. If you have refuse options set to "gather from outside" and "gather from inside", and a free butcher's shop and a free butcher, and the dead things aren't someone's pets, they should do it.

It applies to all of those. FFS. It's a horse, the rotted and it now a skelly. It's in the refuse pile and the butcher shop is RIGHT next to it.

Oh... Might as well kill the elves anyway! :chef:
So, if I reclaim my recently-lost fort, will the minotaur still be there? And will it be haunted by the dozens of dwarves who died there?
He only butchers when I assign a living animal for slaughter. And since I can't assign certain bodies for butchering it seems I am fucked.
right as i was about to start making metal bars on my only metalworking station, the weapon smith decides to be struck with inspiration, but will die because he is stopping me from making what he needs V:v:V

Give him what he needs and he will become a legendary weaponsmith (if it's a Fey mood).
You need a smelter to make bars. Not the forge.

Either way it's not like it would kill you to DL it and try it. You CAN delete it. :v:

And for the heck of it.

Watch in x500.
Ugh fuck. I hope this hotfix won't ruin all the work I've been doing on this mod. I just put in 6 hours into my Shogun mod.
So far its 10 factions, you play as the Takeda. All the factions are hostile to you.
All armour is era consistent.
All weapons are era consistent .
Descriptions are accurate.
Currently working on farming.
Tons of sake.
So far its hard as hell.
So even with the stuff that I uploaded, no one can help me out? :frown:
I downloaded your save, couldn't get him to butcher the skeleton (Never even knew they did that) but I butchered a mule and made a mule bone helm just fine.
Your fort also has a badger problem. :v:

It sure as hell does, and now my damn craftsdwarf is insane, had to wall off the fort while he was outside.
My Stonecrafter has been asleep for quite some time, and others have been bringing her water. At first I thought she was hurt or something, but I checked her wounds and she doesn't have any. :ohdear: What gives?
They bring water to sleeping dwarves if they're thirsty. Wounded or not.
Maybe she just likes sleeping. :v:
I just watched 3 other dwarves go to sleep and wake back up. She's still asleep. :ohdear:
I just got my first "strange mood", it was a cheese maker. He sat in the dining room, waiting for something (For me to build a cheese making factory maybe? He never told me what he wanted...) This was my first strange mood, so I didn't really know what to expect, or what was happening, really. I was waiting for him to tell me what he needed, and when he didn't I thought it was just a bug. But I think he was waiting for a cheese factory... Anyways..
So I let him sit in the dining room, untill he went berzerk and started beating on my siege engineer. My siege engineer put up a valiant fight, buying time for the women and childeren to exit the dining room. It was a 1v1 battle of might between the two. The siege engineer was getting wounded fast, after many wounds, to the head and limbs, the engineer dodges the cheese-makers attack, and runs out of the dining hall, thinking it was empty
But....
Urist McCarpenter was sleeping in the dining hall for some reason, completely oblivious to the fight going on around him. The enraged cheese-maker procedes to punch and kick him in various places, including the head, three times, before he sucumbed to death. I guess Urist McCarpenter wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, because even when he was being beaten to a pulp, he didn't wake up. But the by the valiant effort of the siege engineer, and the sacrifice of the carpenter, the cheese-maker was slaughtered by my military. We had a proper burial for both of them, outside in the refuse/corpse stock pile. And you'll be happy to note that the siege engineer is back working after a short hospital stay.
Tl;Dr: A cheese-maker went berzerk, a siege engineer and carpenter bought time for the military to kill him; minimizing dwarfen deaths. Carpenter died, siege engineer is still working.
FYI the problem was that you didn't have the workshop the dwarf wanted. They can't make artifacts at cheese makers' workshops, so he must have needed something else, like a glass furnace or a clothier's workshop (something obscure like that, that I rarely use usually gets me)

Well I reclaimed the fort that I lost to a minotaur earlier. A few lessons I learned:
-All the items contained in the fort before get scattered EVERYWHERE, apparently at random, and all those items are also forbidden initially.
-Any living creatures present in the fort at the time of loss do remain... So I did have to deal with the minotaur again (Chalk up one more total fortress loss for me). And the goblins who were all locked up in one little room somehow got into the main part of the fort without destroying anything.
-Ghosts... EVERYWHERE. I'm having to (very slowly) build coffins to put all these dwarves to rest. It's gonna take years.
The first party I sent in was a regular old group of farmers, masons, etc. and they just got slaughtered by goblins and the minotaur. The second party I sent in was trained in nothing but spearfighting, and they took 7 copper spears with them. The minotaur somehow died due to unrelated causes, but the goblins put up a hell of a fight. 2 dwarves died in the battle, and 3 more went insane afterwards. For a long time I just had these two miserable peasant dwarves cleaning everything up, but thankfully my first wave of migrants just arrived... No matter that there are only 4 of them.
A couple of quick questions:
-would a magma-fall in my grand dining room fill my inhabitants with wonder or boiling blood?
-do elves make good projectiles? I have a FB suck at the end of a hallway, and was thinking of using the water cannons to shoot prisoners at it.
-finally, would glass axe blades be suitable in a trap? or should I stick with discs?
Alright it's time for me to step up my military and defences, right now I only have 4 miltia dwarfs defending the fortress, if a siege arrives I'm finished.
Your miners have defaced a Monom Rodimdakost
Huh? Is that referring to me having mined through engraved stone?
Yes.
The engraver will now go on a killing spree and murder the entire fortress because they destroyed his engraving of plump helmets.
Crap, what do I do now. I built a finished goods pile, and told the dorfs to move all the cloaks and bits of clothing lying around, but it's leaving me with a MASSIVE stockpile of those items.
What do I do with em? :ohdear:
Fucks SAKE, another fey mood. I fucking hate them, they are lethal to fortresses, because the stuff they ask for is near impossible to get.
It sure as hell does, and now my damn craftsdwarf is insane, had to wall off the fort while he was outside.
You can't butcher skeletons afaik. Only if it has something valuable like elephant bones have ivory.
Yes.

Yup, he threw a tantrum. Luckily he was far away from anything when he did so he just ran around a bit then calmed down. I had stationed the militia squad near the stairs to the important parts, but I was happy that I didn't need to kill him.
Those were some pretty fucking good plump helmets and that engraving was the only thing reminding of that meal. Any dwarf would snap.
Also is there any way to ignite Lignite other than magma?

Actually they were more like:
"Engraved on the wall is a finely designed image of the dwarf *some name* in the *something else that sounds pompous*.
The dwarf is dead."
[editline]26th March 2011[/editline]
Fuck my legendary miner fell down a shaft and broke several bones (luckily no open arteries or damaged organs), is there any way to help him recover and survive? I mean I know they are going to put him in hospital but I was thinking if there was a way to make him absolute priority. I really don't want him dead.
I set my military to use battle axes for their weapons, and even though I somehow have a silver battle axe and a bronze battle axe, they're not fetching them...
Wut?
Also, fuck, I can't get them to kill the dwarf that's in a fey mood, who's just sitting in the dining room doing fuck all.

You don't have the appropriate workshop
Oh great, a siege by a bunch of Goblin crossbowmen. What's the best tactic against crossbowmen? Charging them head on and getting into melee or what?
Also is there any way to tell my dwarfs to get the fuck inside and stop running around outside?
