i dont even have my first 7 bedrooms completed, it looks like im going to be having some Fun
And lots of it!
I have 45 dwarves in my current fort, and nobody has a room yet. :v:
Just installed the new version after a large stint of disinterest. Picked a terrifying region.

I have never seen these beasts before and they are here on spawn. They are coming.
This is what I see in their descriptions (large picture):

But for pages, a whole mess of pink. They've lost so much of themselves that my dwarves are more badger than they are.

I feel obligated to at least let the little bastards have somewhere comfy to lay their heads. Especially seeing as how its going to be totally my fault when they get murdered/crushed/drowned/starve. :v:

Uh... What the hell does that mean?
Wood is a scarce resource on my map. Considering we're in the middle of a desert, it makes sense. I've been importing wood from the elves, though. Enough to make some bins, and a couple beds for a barracks.

Google shows me a duck/goose-ish creature.
If it is a goose I'll feel like an idiot :v:
Yeah should be a male goose.

Bedroom-less dwarves won't really bring any actual Fun, just some less-happy dwarves.

Oh holy shit! It is a goose. When the hell did DF start giving animals names? That was confusing. :v:
It was apparently announcement worthy. So whatever.
Managed to fend off the monster badgers with brute force. Killed two of the blighter before they booked it.
What's the safest way to kill/butcher a caged animal ?
(If it's even possible)

Animals get names when they are adopted.

Jesus fuck this thing is twenty z-levels deep. It's like an underground volcano.

Damn- dwarves sure do take crafting seriously, don't they? All I wanted was an ordinary corkscrew...
For the first time since I started playing DF, food is not an issue even with 100 dwarves.
I can't seem to slaughter my tame animals. I have a butcher's workshop and a butcher but when I look at thge animals in the U list, I can only zoom-bld.

Use z->animals.
You can only slaughter non-pets tho.
Alright there's not a single way in hell this fortress will recover now, everything is going great except that around 2 dwarfs a minute are either stricken by melancholy or they tantrum. These dwarf are fucking pussies, I had 98, 8 died by a Goblin attack and now the whole fortress falls apart.
[editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
Ok fuck being gentle, I stationed my military in the main hall where everyone is, now the tantruming bastards attack them and get slaughtered. If the fortress is to fall I'll make damn sure the bastards that cause it all die painfully.
A dragon just arrived
I'm thinking about sending RageMidget to face him one on one.
This is odd, a merchant that came past was struck with melancholy, and now all my dwarves are running to him. Does this mean they're giving this free loading bastard my precious food or are they stealing stuff for me?

Let us know how that works out! :v:

My bowdwarves killed it before he could arrive :c
Next time.
Ah dammit, one of my woodcutters is possessed and he wants leather, which I don't know how to get. This is going to be so much Fun.

Easy, butcher an animal and tan the hide in a tanner's workshop.
Orkel, you should make RageMidget the only military dwarf you have, besides the millitia commander of course
I should really built a pasture for all my animals. For now I sort of don't care and just let them starve. :U
That said, I somehow have loads of animals in cages, even though I never built any.
Fucking fey moods, they really really piss me off. I have stone, I have leather, I have bones. Why is he still demanding them!?
I think I should start making separate workshops over magma, so if anyone gets a fey mood I can just kill them with lava and prevent him going berserk.
Not to mention the above ground construction system sucks. I want to be able to build a simple tall wall support, without having to fuck around with building ten billion stairs going different directions.
Ragemidget is becoming stronger by the day.
He's been working out in my danger room for about two years straight now, his personality stats have turned from "he is tough" into "absolutely inexhaustible, basically unbreakable, amazingly agile and strong" and his mental stats have become "he has an unbreakable will, an astounding feel for the position of the body, a stunning feel for spatial relationships and the ability to focus"
Not to mention his legendary military skills.
