My first was a hatchcover. Also, Toady fixed the bug that forced you to muddy soil underground. You don't have to do that anymore to farm. Only when there's no soil, such as on stone, do you have to muddy it.
This annoys me with aboveground farms, since they're usually patchwork deals due to all those damn bald spots of [insert stone here] floors. I want a nice, unimpeded farm to grow my sun berries, whip vine, and longland grass :argh:

Major bug fixes fixed crash related to an items vs. temperature optimization fixed world gen crash that could happen if all the beasts were killed fixed world gen crash caused when a prisoner escapes from a site at the same time the last person to arrive at the site commits murder Other bug fixes/tweaks made dwarves a little more proactive about seeking a diagnosis for health care that might have been interrupted cave dragon gets claw attack, loses stance strike skill

.25 released!
Fuck...... Again?? I haven't even lost a fortress yet! Damn updates.
Fuck...... Again?? I haven't even lost a fortress yet! Damn updates.
Just copy your savefile to the new version. No need to start a new fort.
Fuck...... Again?? I haven't even lost a fortress yet! Damn updates.
I prefer these minor updates every day or so over the year where we didn't get any at all, and then got a massive update.
Just copy your savefile to the new version. No need to start a new fort.
Oh.. What all needs to be copied over? [editline]28th March 2011[/editline]
I prefer these minor updates every day or so over the year where we didn't get any at all, and then got a massive update.
I wasn't aware of that. So.... I retract my previous statement. Yay updates!
All you need to copy over is the save folder in data.
Here's the weapon balance/tile color/square tiles pack for 31.25: http://horobox.co.uk/u/Orkel_1301328261.rar [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] oh fuck a bronze colossus ragemidget's hammers don't work against it so I'm sending Psychognome with his two axes [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] Ragemidget and Psychognome tag-teamed it, it was an immensely long battle but finally Psychognome cut off its lower body. [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] Dropped a masterwork bronze statue of a goose.
Fuck...... Again?? I haven't even lost a fortress yet! Damn updates.
You're like a damn DF savant. I lost several in my early stages of learning the nuances of the game because of stupid shit on my part.
You're like a damn DF savant. I lost several in my early stages of learning the nuances of the game because of stupid shit on my part.
Well I've only been playing for three days... And every time I think I get far enough for some Fun to start happening, an update comes out.. And I didn't realize (or think about it, really) to move saves over. But... I still haven't lost a fortress.
I started with the 2D version, and I think I've lost a fortress legitimately only once, to clowns. In the 2D version I defeated all fun stuff easily but I hit the endgame timer, in the 3D versions (40d) I died to to the HFS once but that's it. DF isn't that difficult unless the odds are REALLY stacked against you. You can make infinite food and drinks, damnit. Now, for my illegitimate losses, I have quit countless fortresses as boredom strikes, I have turned dwarves into dragons and other megabeasts so many times I can't even count, in one fortress I turned every dead dwarf into a zombie upon death. I once made an unkillable hostile chicken which slowly, after a span of about 10 years of carnage, managed to kill the last wrestler.
I really want to update, but I'm not sure how to go about it without losing all my creatures and civs that I've added. :saddowns: also, my mega project is going sort of well, the main pillar is marked out. now it's just going to take forever to mine and furnish, with the siege blocking trade and all.
I just barely scraped by on this one. I was down to my last few pieces of meat, and a merchant showed up. Finally. I robbed that fucker blind. Sure, take these rock toys you dumb fuck.
:siren: NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED! :siren: One of the dwarven childs got a fey mood and claimed a workshop. When the child couldn't get the stuff he wanted he went berzerk and started kicking people in the lower part of the leg. He did this for a while untill one dwarf had enough. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/dfgdgs.JPG[/img_thumb]
He prolly kicked the lower legs because he couldn't reach the adult dwarves anywhere higher. As far as I remember the same is with big humanoids like colossi or titans, it's hard to hit the head or such because of their size. [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] Well, it's not THAT much harder, but if you want to play around with all the features, it is. It's always easy to just wall off the caverns or such but that's no Fun.

[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/dfgdgs.JPG[/img_thumb]
Dwarves are fucking brutal, once I had three tag-team a capybara and one held it down while the rest pretty much tore it apart. [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] I'm making this fortress a fucking fortress. Already carved fortifications all over the mountains (that way my crossbow men can fire out of the mountain but still be safe), I'm building 5 towers and I'm going to make half the fortress collapsible in case shit goes bad (also going to make the outside parts collapsible, so that if they get close the ground will just disappear under their feet).
I don't really play DF2010 that much since at ~40 dwarves my FPS is already pretty crippled
Newest version has a good speed boost, I'm running 120 dwarves at 70fps Try it out, it was intentional
Intentional? What?
Intentional? What?
Aka. Toady intentionally fixed bugs that increased the FPS.
Has he added the ability to use two processors yet :colbert:
Psychognome got a special name from all the shit he's killed Psychognome Lordwheel, the Vision of Dying fitting.
Has he added the ability to use two processors yet :colbert:
nope :c
Psychognome got a special name from all the shit he's killed Psychognome Lordwheel, the Vision of Dying fitting.
That is amazing.
What screen is it? Is it the [a] screen?
the Combat Report (r) screen.
-late, should have refreshed the page- Anyway why can't I make walls of lignite? I need to fill a pit with it so I can light it on fire. Nevermind, found out that any item made of the material has the material's proprieties. Wait, how the hell do I make stuff out of lignite?
oh so that's what I've been missing. All the hilarity I could've witnessed when a drunk dwarf went berserk and started mauling me children
oh so that's what I've been missing. All the hilarity I could've witnessed when a drunk dwarf went berserk and started mauling me children
When a red C appears in the upper left it means you have new combat reports. Blue S for sparring reports and a green H for hunting reports. All accessable with "r" [editline]28th March 2011[/editline] okay what the fuck how did you get up there zuntir there are no stairs leading up there, how did you do that you spiderdwarf
Quick question: The version I am currently using is the version Revocane used in his DF 101 videos, mostly because I liked the tileset and I couldn't be arsed to fix that myself. (Those videos are great for new players, and old players who needed to freshen up the old dwarven skills. And I had few to begin with.) So, if I want to upgrade to this new version, all I need to copy over are my saves and the "art" folder? Oh, and will that tileset still work?
