I have one small question regarding training, my newly formed militia is training and all, but theyre only training the Dodge and Fighter skills. How can I have them train a weapon skill like Axe?

They'll do invidual combat drills, and spar if set to active/training (sometimes).

Just noticed that, most dwarves have some points on their Axe skill because of the sparring. But isn't there a way give them priority over skills? Most of the time I see them training dodge and fighting, but I only saw them doing an axe demonstration once.

Short of a danger room or live combat, the only other way is through individual combat drills (I swear I've seen dwarves raise their weapons skills while doing individual combat drills) or demonstrations (which requires a high level axedwarf with a good teacher skill.)
You should always try to make the best skilled dwarf your squad leader, he'll teach his skills to the rest.
Think of it this way. What will train them faster, a bunch of total newbies practising and teaching eachother, or a bunch of total newbies led by an experienced soldier?
Migrants often have skilled soldiers with them, so put one of them as the leader.

Crundle is about to get stabbed to death by my spear militia.

Is there any way to move corpses from one burial receptacle to another? My legendary miner dwarf that died a long time ago (since before I lost my fortress and then reclaimed it) has been lying in a wooden casket, and that's no way to bury him. So I made him a Gold Sarcophagus, just that now I need to move him.
Is there anyway to observe as others play df, i mean besides finding out where they live and looking throught the windows?

If they both use DFterm then yeah.

Deconstruct his casket and they should move him to the sarcophagus if it's the only one available.
Also, make a memorial slab in his honour (assuming you don't have one already).
Memorial slabs can also be used to designate memorial halls(the same way you designate a dining room) where your dwarves will gather to pay their respects to the dead. I did this and soon a horde of dwarves and their dumbass pets swarmed the cramped hall and left all kinds of rotting vermin on the floors. Neat.
Yay, goblin ambush, 30 of my 72 dworfs are dead and arround 14 are wounded, them a Panda appears out of nowhere and slaughter 5 of my dwarfs before being slain, and now one of my farmers went beserk, so much Fun!

Thanks that'll come in handy, now if i only would have friends who would play df :sigh:
edit
No pity? Then self-pity has to do it...
Military just annihilated another siege. My main elite soldiers were assisted by average-skilled spear militia of 6 speardwarves, they did better than expected as no casualties were suffered.

a..... PANDA??
I totally had a dream of Dwarf Fortress last night. I was a miner Dwarf, and the whole time I was mining I was absolutely furious. I kept having the same thoughts going through my head. "Why am I doing this", and "This asshole doesn't know what he's doing, and he's only going to get us killed." :smith:
Out of curiosity, how many idlers do you guys usually have, I always feel like having 30% of your dwarfs idling is kinda bad(which i usually have) any tips on getting more people into work? I just can seem to organize all my 30 dwarfs into different jobs. :sigh:
I don't care about idlers, atm I have around 70 out of 120 idling. Only the highest skilled dwarves do any jobs in order to get the best results possible, the rest just hang around being useless until they sometimes get drafted into the military.

It's not bad to have 30% of your Dwarves idling, as long as every other job is adequately filled. After all, someone has to move stockpiles and dump stone.
After giving up a few months ago I need to give this a shot, I figured out how to dig/mine, chop trees, and I somehow dissasembled my wagon. How do I move my stuff to the little cave I made?

Er, read that wrong. Set up stockpiles with p. :v:

I have been using the wiki, it doesn't help to much with the controls.
Is there a way to hide areas?
Like, if you dug a tunnel to drain water out this one time, could you seal it back up then make it look like the normal underground blackness?
a 20 z-level fall should be enough to be lethal, right?

Um, easily
Very easily.
Like, overkill easy.

No, you could fill it with walls (one by one starting from the end in order to not trap dwarves in), but it'll never go "black" again.

Can Dorfs die of old age?
Take that you motherfucking Goblin sons of a whore, I bet they expected an easy pillage like last time.
Those assholes won't be back anytime soon, killed 3, mortally injured 4 and the rest fled like a bunch of pussies (I don't think there was a single one without a severe bleeding). They did go after my animals though, fuckers killed like 8 of them, but a brave Yak bull fought back and tore the Goblin bastard's brain apart with a kick.
Is there any way to have the animals inside? I mean without them starving to death from the lack of grass.

Also killed a fair share of shit too

And about animals, make a large area on a soil layer. There'll be cave moss and such growing on the soil floor that the animals can eat.
