Just embarked in Alakalak Alak.
Some carpenter got possessed, he better make something nice because he has taken like 10 different things. Ugh, a weapon rack.
Anyone got a good world gen profile? I hate the vast majority of worlds that DF is generating at the moment.
Ok. This is how you get shit done. [img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/10rtywx.png[/img_thumb] I think my militia commander is secretly Wolverine. I guess the bronze gauntlets did the job? btw, total body count: 6, I think
That fucking defies logic, Your Dwarf is probably a deity.
A big chunk of my military is really upset at their "long patrol duty." The wiki made it sound like I could prevent this by only requiring a portion of the squads to be training at once, but this doesn't seem to be helping. I have squads of 10 dwarves, but I have it set so that only 5 of them are training in any given month. The problem is that sometimes they switch out, and sometimes they don't. One month, only two dwarves swapped positions, and the rest kept training or being civilians. How do I make them use their heads? It's really their own fault if their patrol duty lasts too long.
I prevent it in my fort by making them train rarely, keeping them at inactive aka. invidual combat drills most of the time. [editline]1st April 2011[/editline]
That was... Oddly easy for something made out of metal.
Pewter is incredibly soft, it was a very weak FB. [editline]1st April 2011[/editline] Devlog
March was a month of true championship. It's hard to comprehend the generosity you have shown us. With pride in our chest and the wind in our sails we will plow into next month like it didn't know what was coming. Imagine what the adventurer could possibly be thinking as he approaches the great stone walls of the city, stretching as far as he can see. Once inside, men and beasts fill the streets. He finds himself in a great wooden canyon of stores and shop fronts, all with signs advertising their wares. You should now begin to see the possibilities. Cities are so big you could have as many adventures as before without having to ever leave the city gates. But first the cities must be built and this is but the first stage from which to leap off into glory. Congratulations to those who donated! Fun with Numbers Thanks for a great month! I've already started on the town maps, and I expect the bulk of the time for this release will be spent working on markets and getting people to move between villages and town, though it'll also take a little while to get all of the furniture and items realized properly according to the stored world gen amounts. We should have many sponsored animals coming in during this next major release as well, and then we'll do another round of bug fixes much like the one that just happened. The release after that will focus on village/town schedules and mine/mineral stuff. I created an axedwarf in Adventure Mode. I wandered over to the nearest human settlement and find a foolish looking human. I take careful aim at his lower body and let fly with a mighty swing... After the human and I go back and forth dodging and parrying for several turns, I get my foot impaled with a silver boning knife. The human can't seem to remove the knife and goes apeshit on me, biting my hand and shaking my poor dwarf around. Ultimately, the knife in the foot was twisted and my dwarf bled out. Armok surely has a sense of humor.
Anyone got a good world gen profile? I hate the vast majority of worlds that DF is generating at the moment.
I have a pretty good world gen profile, lemme see if I can dig it up. http://www.mediafire.com/?ax1elemppebsft6
I love pots.
It has now been exactly one year since the release of DF2010.
It has now been exactly one year since the release of DF2010.
Even so, I still miss 40d :frown:
It has now been exactly one year since the release of DF2010.
And what a shitstorm it was
Fuck you DF, the fortress is still standing (not for the lack of effort on the game's part though). First the largest siege I've ever had, then nearly immediately afterwards an ambush, and during the ambush a Titan. The ambushers got slaughtered by my Marksdwarfs, and the Titan (chitinous) took two of my Axedwarfs but was slain.
Im new to combat, every 'combat' I had ended up with all of my dwarfs dead, but today, 5 of my dwarfs died and other 5 managed to kill some goblin spearman. I had a hospital, the wounded dwarfs went there but now theyre gone, looking over the health screen, they doesn't require any medical attention at all (theyre not bleeding, requesting sutures etc) but still, one of my dwarfs got Grasp Impaired and severed Motor Nerve, am I doing something wrong or will he just recover?

Well, very well anyway.
He's probably never gonna fight again. Well, very well anyway.
Ah well, plenty of useless dwarves with combat skills left anyway.
Woo, I got sound working on my netbook. Now I can hear the lovely music while playing on the go. :buddy:
Ah well, plenty of useless dwarves with combat skills left anyway.
Thats the spirit! Now put his useless ass to engraving the walls. Sure, he might have to use his teeth... But thats the life of a dwarf. [editline]1st April 2011[/editline] Alright. I am now preparing to embark into a dangerous territory. Dwarf Fortress officially begins...
Are you shitting me? Another siege? What the fuck, 2 sieges, 1 ambush and 1 Titan in about 40 minutes. [editline]1st April 2011[/editline] So has the game declared war on me and will be throwing a siege at me every 5 minutes?
Whereas humans get the idea that they can't breach your defenses, and would send a diplomat to ask for peace, goblins generally get more and more pissed with each failed siege or ambush and would send more and more soldiers against you (speaking of which, is there a limit to how many soldiers a goblin siege can send?) The game's punishing you for Winning.

I haven't even had an ambush in the 4 years my fort has been standing. Just a forgotten beast, a giant bat, a fire imp, and a plains titan. Oh, and one goblin thief showed up but he fell in my pit of death.
I have a pretty good world gen profile, lemme see if I can dig it up. http://www.mediafire.com/?ax1elemppebsft6
Thanks, I tried but my DF won't gen a single world they all get rejected.
Thanks, I tried but my DF won't gen a single world they all get rejected.
Oh, when it gives the error just press (t.) It will ignore that particular error (too many sub-regions) and give you a workable world.
More like rewarding you for winning (in my opinion). More sieges = less boredom
True that. And in the nature of winning, I now have a male and female giant desert scorpion, that I 'liberated' off of some very dead elven merchants.
True that. And in the nature of winning, I now have a male and female giant desert scorpion, that I 'liberated' off of some very dead elven merchants.
Lucky, you now have a tamed creature second only to a Dragon in terms of both pet value and strength (for a tameable creature.) Once they spawn en masse, stuff them all into a cage and cause them all to be released when a goblin hits a pressure plate for maximum fun.
Too bad I don't have a dungeon master :v: I was thinking of putting them in the pit, yay or nay?
