I used to play before DF2010, much changed?
http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Release_information
http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Release_information
Bloody hell.
So, my fortress fell, and I'm trying to start a new fortress. Strangely the only available anvils are steel anvils. This leaves me with no points left to give skills to my dwarves. What do I do? Why aren't there any other types of anvils available?
Embarked on a volcano and my wagon spawned in it. Oh well time to reclaim and hope for some better placement.
Embarked on a volcano and my wagon spawned in it. Oh well time to reclaim and hope for some better placement.
:wtc: That's amazing.
I just made a new map, while letting history develop, I saw some area called the "jungle of murder" It's all red and grey. Perfect spot to start. Oh and there's a volcanoe in the middle of the sea.
Next fortress I make I shall make it in the beginning of time (AKA year 1), maybe that way they'll carve something else that that damn duel between a human and an elf (elf got his ass handed to him). Might be because there never is an epic confrontation in my fortress though, only 3 titans I've had were no more dangerous than a capybara (seriously one was a hoary marmot in form of man, not exactly the scariest).
So after 2 failed attempts I finally have my home but where to put the slabs...
i never get forgotten beasts or titans i only get gremlins and stuff even when i have several millions in wealth 100 dwarves and adamantite armor
Run little miner. Atleast I didn't make him mine hot walls. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Shit, within a second the whole tunnel was filled, he couldn't stand a change against the water :v: [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] I can't break through the layer of partially molten rock under the lava, it's everywhere. Is there any way you can get to the hell underneath?

Fuck it, just gonna make the underground water cave and the volcanoe collide :v:
Even though it's probably a really stupid question, tileset?
Mayday pack.
Fuck it, just gonna make the underground water cave and the volcanoe collide :v:
prepare for steam
Even though it's probably a really stupid question, tileset?
Mayday's tile set, also know as may green. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline]
prepare for steam
Didn't turn out as expected, the lava just flowed over the water, creating what steam, but not the giant amounts which I expected to spew out of the mining shaft.
Looks like the fix in my mod that stops clothes from degrading didn't work. Damn you, misinformation on wiki! Clothes are degrading atm, and my fortress FPS has halved from 110 to around 60 because of it.
Any way to fix this?
Is there a way to bring dwarves back to life? In a mod or something? I think that would be incredibly awesome :D
Best name I've ever had for a location in a world is The Red Mountain. It made the nerd in me giggle with glee.
I once had something with the word "batman" or "bat-man" in it. I posted it in the thread quite a long time ago. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Oh and about Mayday's tileset, I've discovered a few problems (using lazy newb pack) •Beekeeper (and from what I believe some other dude too) look like skeletal dwarves (not sure if it are dwarves, but skeletons for sure) •ghost dwarfs just look like alive dwarfs, ghost and normal farmer are the same.
Is there a way to bring dwarves back to life? In a mod or something? I think that would be incredibly awesome :D
Used to be able to do that with Dwarf Companion, but it hasn't been updated in ages.
So I've been having lot's of gruesome accident lately. A metalworker went insane and ran after a dwarven child, who's father is dead, so he was only left with his mother and sister. I didn't want the mother to lose her only son, so I sent my semi-new swordsman squad to get him. I didn't think the metalworker would be able to hurt him in the small 10-secondsish. I was wrong. He shattered the kids elbow, then tore his brain with a punch to the back of the head. I had the fucker slaughtered. From then on I realized, if my fort is to survive, I better show all my idlers what the fuck this now-spartan fort is about. I made a squad of six men and sent them off in their standard clothes to the new large danger room I built. It already has the blood of a child that died there earlier on the walls. Motherfuckers, I will baptise them in flames. The moment the spears started thrusting, already one recruit got his blood all over the walls. I am NOT opening the door for him. He will finish when everyone else does. If he survives or not, it is not my problem. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] His toe is gone. If he survives he will remember what it means to be part of "The Portals of Iron" [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] What do you know. He made it.
What do you know. He made it.
Putting his toe on a necklace would be really dwarfy. ^_^
My miner that fell into his own pit died a slow death of infection in the hospital.
My miner that fell into his own pit died a slow death of infection in the hospital.
Well, it was his dumb ass fault.
My miner that fell into his own pit died a slow death of infection in the hospital.
Shoulda had soap.
Oh dear he barely survived the second session. Shattered some bones. (the guy in the danger room) [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Yea it was his own fault. Not to mention the numerous dwarves whom I ordered to build walls in the pits to contain the enemies.... a lot of them walled themselves in. So I left them there to die... A great friend of the miners was struck by melancholy because of his death and basically died of depression soon after.
Give him armor or the wooden training spears will kill.
So I instead of going to the hospital, he returned to the room with the spikes... the walls covered in his own blood. Poor guy. Buuut I wiill noot have pitteeeh for heeem
10 dwarf squad beating this guy for 10 minutes now
He cleaned it off I think....
