theres tons of weapons and armor in the fortress but ill just reclaim with really good millitary dwarves and a grower/brewer
My legendary hammerdwarf, fully equipped with copper armour and a silver hammer, was just struck down by an elk while hunting. RIP.
Also, im still waiting for that caravan. I have a 10x20 room full of useless cra- i mean, finished goods, just waiting for them.
Edit: Yay, its here.
since i reclaimed my fortress with around 2 millions in wealth will i get a lot of immigrants?
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
is there any way to make my dwarves change from leather armor to the iron and steel i have in my stockpiles?

Orkel's smarter than me. Do whatever he says.
V-menu them, press I, and dump and forbid their armor. They should take whatevers avaliable, hopefully being your steel.
..Or just set it in the military screen menu. Delete leather and add iron/steel equivalents.
there is an entire army of goblins just chilling in my map with some badgers
"Hopefully they'll wear that when I forbid their armor" was the way it was done back in 40d in 2009.
theres actually an entire goblin army just chilling on my map
The instant an enemy goblin arrives, they will turn hostile too and attack you.
to bad they're standing on my cage traps then :v:
Bah, rabbits dont breed enough. I need meat. ;_;

Not sure if it happens for rabbits, but in df2010 kittens don't give meat. You might have to let them grow before slaughtering.

Thanks for the warning. I guess ill wait for the kids, then kill the parents. ^_^
Edit:
Rabbits are small domestic animals that can also be found roaming temperate plains. Because of their tiny size, they will not provide food even when mature. This means that they are not usable as livestock, however they may still make decent pets. Be warned that rabbits do indeed, breed like rabbits.
God damnit.
the whole lack of metal thing fixed yet? Like, only having one metal in your entire civilization?
So it seems my dwarves stopped putting the dead into coffins, and instead throw them into the corpses stockpile... What could be causing this?
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
All my old legendary military members seem to be going insane one by one... even though I have them set to inactive...
Are the coffins set for burial?

No unused built coffins, no coffins that have "Use for burial" activated, no coffins that have "Allow civilian burial" activated, no coffins that are non-assigned tombs...
You get the idea.
Forgot to set allow burial on the new batch of coffins... thanks. Now my glorious warriors can stop being ghosts and instead rest in peace.
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
Jeez what a mess... two of my warhammer soldiers got in a fight because one killed the others dog...
Not even into summer yet, and already I'm under siege. 6 Badger boars going strait for the fort.
Make that 9.
well shit, checked the wiki, and learned badgers suck... So much for calling it a siege...

Yes in a sense, you can toggle how many minerals you want generated when the world is created.
The lowest setting returns things to pre-.18 (like the old days) while the maximum setting brings it to the situation the update you're thinking of brought.
Oh god I'm getting too immersed with my dwarves, I teared when I learned that the dwarf woman who is in the hospital after being beaten by an insane soldier is the mother of a son, and her husband was a normal fishery worker who died by being caught outside during a siege this year. So if she dies he will be by himself, and it doesn't look like she will make too-good of a recovery...
I just had a siege of 30 or so goblin bowmen. My squad of 3 full adamantine armored sword supersoldiers slaughtered them, no wounds at all. I severely underestimated adamantine as a material.

Cool beans. Thanks.
I sold half my fortress to get a giant eagle from the elves, trained it to be a military bird. While I was waiting for a wall to be built in my shaft-to-the-bottom-of-the-world to block off a cavern, one hunter, who was a marksdwarf in training, decided it was a smart idea to hunt in the cavern. He shot a Jabberer in the leg, which crippled it, and caused it to run into the shaft for no particular reason. The hunter promptly went "Well, fuck" and left, and the Jabberer ran into the fortress bleeding the entire way, while I was none the wiser.
The thing that got me to notice? "Giant war eagle has bled to death". I raged. Hard. After checking the fight report, I found that the eagle was kicking its ass something fierce. The Jabberer only attacked three times, two of which missed, but the other allowed it to latch on. Then it ripped the eagle's leg off, and died. Times like this I wish there was a way to burn things at the stake.
I want to increase dwarf speed, but I can't find the [SPEED] tag in creature_standard. Anybody know where it is?

If I had a shittier computer I'd use it as well, since when the FPS gets too low you can't get anything done without speeding up the dwarves.
