Loop it off via...any possible way (sword, axe, projectiles sometimes etc), grab it from the floor with empty hand and beat the living shit out anything. Or get bitten to death. w/e

40 TROGLODYTES AND OTHER ASSORTED MONSTROSITIES

New devlog.
The first of the sponsored animals is underway -- it involves a side industry of beekeeping. Bee colonies found on the map can be collected and placed into clay/stone hives (the tube-style hive I found on Wikipedia, he he he -- I imagine woven hives will make it in when we have the materials for it, and I might throw in wooden hives now too). Artificial hives with colonies will yield honeycombs made from wax and pressing these will yield honey and wax, although it won't yield wax now if I don't actually have a use for wax that can go in now. We don't have flowers yet -- just a requirement that bees be kept adjacent to an open outside tile. Since collection destroys the colony with our non-modern hives, you'll have to collect new colonies of bees after your honeycombs are pressed, but new colonies will be available on the map over time in areas with bees.
That update seems pointless unless we get candles or moulding. I'd rather have a better lighting and torch system than a series of small updates that a modder could easily add.
Pointless ? You didn't see the other logs did you ?
The mead must flow.
my axedwarf lost a hand to a goblin thief
:sigh:
How come I read these awesome stories of sieges and beasts and wars and battles and stuff. But I never get these myself.
I may create most hostile world, embark to worst possible place, yet all I get is some Kobold thief or snatcher the worst. I want some action.
Any ideas ?
I have the same problem, I killed all the Elven and Human traders I received, tried to get one to survive to tell the tale but he always died. :frown:
What skills should I give to my dwarves?
Is it possible to rip someone's arm off and beat him/her/it to death with it in adventure mode? If so, how?
It's kind of hard to actually tear someone's arm off, but you can cut it off. When you do, pick it up and use it as a weapon.
Mother of fuck, a hole bunch of cave crocodiles stormed my fort and killed a lot of dwarves having a party in the dining room. As my military was running down there to kill them, a badass miner smashed a few of the crocodiles brains out with his bare fists. I then named him Steve Irwin.

Can anyone please explain how to tame animals and make leather armor? I can't access the wiki due to ISP filters.

Crikey! They're gettin' pretty agitated nao!
Watch out for stingrays.
Watch out for stingrays.
He'll probably meet his end when he attempts to drink from a murky pool with a stingray still in it from last year's flooding.
I never really understood this game, but I guess I'll try and give it another go.
I dunno, maybe it's bugged, but my miner absolutely will not fucking mine. I tell him to mine, he just stands around with 'no job'.
Doesn't even go down the staircase.
Can anyone tell me how to make a race playable in adventure mode?
honestly, I'm clueless about it.

Adding [INDIV_CONTROLLABLE] for their entity_default file.
Thanks much. Kobolding it up should be a giggle.

There is a mod with very well-implemented koboldery, unless I read several posts in this thread incorrectly.
Hmmm, can't get kobolds or beast people to work. They just don't appear on the list. Odd.
Anyone got any idea as to why? all i did was add that tag.
Could you have made that OP ANY longer?

You must place a staircase up below all staircase downs one floor below.
So, I was playing adventure mode, and i was tasked to kill a 'moon creature' so i took my small army, and attacked it's lair.
the first one went down easily, and these troops had taken tougher, literaly tearing everything to shreds.
I got kicked in the head so hard by one that it decapitated me, and my flying head took out a couple of my troops. Just beforehand i'd gotten to legandary hammerdwarf, too.
Such is life in Dwarf Fortress.
Last night I had an Academic Team (quiz game for HS) meet and one of the questions was something along the lines of "This ore of lead, containing sulfur, is commonly found near sphaleri-BEEP!" "Galena?" "Correct. 10 points."
Thanks, DF.
Herp, winter is coming. Do I need to do any preparation or anything?
Mudstone crown with spikes of mudstone, bitches.
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Sorry, rings of mudstone, not spikes.
Herp, winter is coming. Do I need to do any preparation or anything?
I usually have a well ready once the river I embark near freezes (if).
In an adventurer, if I just put all of my points into swords, I'd be able to bat arrows out of the air, right?
Hurp winter is here. O_o
