I still don't get what idiot came along and thought there was something wrong with the original Tony Hawk formula and decided it needed to be changed to the point everything that made the series what it is had to be replaced with a dumb-down linear experience with little to nothing to actually do.
They probably found the game's original controls too outdated compared to Skate's flick-it scheme, so they decided to ~PUSH IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL~
which failed catastrophically
The tony hawk game are missing the point of their appeal, nobody wants a skateborad controller, if I wanted to skate like that I'd buy a fucking skateborad.
Also, I think that as the Skate games do the realistic skating, the tony hawk games should embrace the off the wall kind of things the older TH games had.
i remember THUG 1, flying from building to building in Hawaii, mashing buttons, getting insane combos, snapping the stick on cheap $10 controllers, THOSE were good times, now we get shred, :sigh: must every great series do this?
Hasn't every single one of Activision's games this year been a flop, with the exception of Black Ops? So essentially, they're living off CoD games, and when those run out...
Tony Hawk died for me when THUG came out. It was a good game but I couldn't really enjoy any of the games after Pro Skater 4.
THUG wasn't a bad game but it defenetly went downhill after that.
Tony Hawks Underground 2 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 were awesome though, my first skate games.

Playing Skate 3 more now though
The last TH game I played was Proving Ground. Years ago on the PS2. I loved it for a day. Then I liked it for a couple weeks.
I remember playing TH PS and it was amazing. I loved it for months.
They should make a Tony Hawk game when they have good ideas, not make a new game every year out of habit..
I loved THPS1 on through THUG2. American Wasteland and all after sucked dick.

Why won't Activision let this series die?

because they are evil money leeches from planet Quacko, sent here to rob gamers of all their money for the hivemind
i remember the old days of pro skater 2
circle is grab
triangle is grind
square is flip
x is ollie
mmm
The release of THPS2 was the heyday of the series.
I personally think that Project 8 was the last good game in the series. It retained the old style of gameplay, and added the Create-A-Trick mode which was pretty fun for it's time. I really don't remember the game after that, but I do remember that I was disappointed with it.
I consider THUG 2 to be the best game in the series, with its online play for PC and all of the gameplay from the older games intact.
They should have let it die after THUG2, since it was the last game of the series that doesn't make you rage
I miss Neversoft :smith:

Wasn't there a create a trick mode in some of the older games too?

I enjoyed it, seemed like any other earlier TH game, could've been better, could've been worse.
Lack of creating your own level sucked though.
I'm pretty sure I've never played Project 8 but I'm very sure I created some pretty silly tricks in one of the games.
Pro Skater 4 was my childhood.
American wasteland was my favorite, had awesome music
I remember the glory days of THUG. went out and got a ps2 network adapter and a usb keyboard for that!
Those were the days :'(
Of course it was doomed to failure. Activision rammed the franchise into the ground like they do with every other franchise. Don't they know those plastic skateboards are just the corniest, lamest thing ever? It's a cheap attempt to combat EA's Skate.
Let us all hope that Skate doesn't go down the same route.
Underground 1 and 2 were my favorite.
I have seen a lot of people complaining about having to use the shitty plastic skateboard. Well, you can by the game itself if you really wanted to. I don't know how the controls are for the the controller and such. Just saying you DON'T have to buy the plastic piece of shit skateboard.

There probably was, but I'm referring to a different feature; the one where you can personalize your own flip trick on the spot. I probably shouldn't have called it Create-A-Trick.
PS3 through UG2 were awesome, but I enjoyed American Wasteland. Every thing was meh.

Nail-the-trick or something? I remember that in Project 8, last fun TH game to me.

Oh that thing, it was in the ads I think.
Never got too sold on the idea.
They are just killing themselves now. A respectable game is now a horrendous piece of shit on a disc and a plastic board.
