My total price was like $301 dollars, but that doesn't include the Uncharted purchase I'll probably make in a few weeks time.
Don't forget taxes. Depending on what they are in your area you're looking at about $350.
No taxes applied to online payments, at least I've never been taxed before on my Amazon Payments. Not sure the specifics, but in the States you only get taxed on online purchases if you live in the same state as the vendor (I believe, someone could clarify better then I could), which I don't. It's why I don't pay any taxes on Steam games since they're based in Washington. EDIT Here's information on the tax thing.
Canceled my Wi-Fi system order for a First Edition Bundle. Bumps my bill up to 500$.
I really recommend that you don't unless if you're really interested in the 3G model. I got a Wi-Fi, 2 games, and an 8 gig memstick for $350 total. Though seeing as how I've heard a lot of good things about Amazon and Newegg I may try them out sometime.

I can't wait until the year after it comes out. Because that's the only time us not-so-super-fucking-rich people can get our hands on one.

After following news on the vita and watching various reviews, not liking it at all. - Ugly UI, old version looks much better. - Screen is abysmal in sunlight, taking away the point of a handheld device. - Return of the proprietary memory cards, this shouldn't be happening when we have the much cheaper MicroSD cards. - Device is very thick, looks cluttered and generally isn't very nice to look at. - Touch panel looks very awkward to use, will probably be very little games that utilise this. - Price tag is ludicrous when compared to the other handheld devices available.
ModNation Racers: Road Trip won't support online play at all.

This so much. There is literally no other reason for proprietary memory cards than Sony having a monopoly on them and prices being over 200% of what you'd normally pay for a comparable SD or µSD card.
- Ugly UI, old version looks much better.
Agreed. The PSP/PS3 menus are really good. It's very easy to navigate to what you want. I can only hope that maybe the Vita's UI is changed in a firmware update if enough people bitch about it.
- Screen is abysmal in sunlight, taking away the point of a handheld device.
Don't have mine yet, so I can't comment. Still I heard that the Vita performs much better outside then the old PSP or the 3DS. Then again, much better then nothing could be unplayable.
- Touch panel looks very awkward to use, will probably be very little games that utilise this.
My problem from day one is that they have this gorgeous screen that they expect you to touch and smear with your fingers. This may be an irrational fear, since proper cleaning after use should keep the screen looking nice, but I just don't like it. The touch panel on the back does seem excessive, but I'm sure some games would use it, and if given the option between using the panel or the screen, I'd use the panel for reasons above.
- Price tag is ludicrous when compared to the other handheld devices available.
I thought the price was quite reasonable, but then again when it was first shown, I was expecting this thing to be around $400. Yeah there are hidden costs with the memory stick that probably a lot of people don't know about, but even at $300, I think the Vita has potential as a dedicated gaming machine (Compared to Smartphones)

Regarding the UI I don't think that Sony will change it, they're stubborn and don't listen to what the customers want (ie otherOS removal for PS3). I just hope that somebody will manage to jailbreak the device so that other UIs can be used. If the price gets down to about £150 and is able to be jailbroken I'll consider purchasing, but knowing Sony by the time that happens they'll have a new model out.
i preordered the bundle with wifi, 4gb card, pouch and a game that releases a week early and touch my katamari just hoping 4gb will be enough...
Is there a list of games that dont require a memory card? I heard some titles dont need them
p. sure that's most of them i'll be pissed if it's not most of them btw what are the best launch titles besides katamari and the best psn titles i hope i can fit at least like 5 psp games at once on that 4gb memory card, and that save files stay forever the worst thing about the ipod/iphone is that saves disappear if you delete the app

If you do have enough room for 5 games, then expect to have very little space available for anything else aside from save games. Launch Games Uncharted Golden Abyss is easily the system's premier title. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 has a ton of cool features like cross platform play (Vita can play against PS3), and DLC sharing between those two platforms, etc... Wipeout 2048 offers cross platform play as well and looks like it'll be the better of the two racing games at launch (The other being Ridge Racer, which I hear is lacking content). Modnation Racers Road Trip is a pretty fun kart-racer that allows you to create your own tracks. The Vita can actually play all of the levels already created on PS3. BE WARNED: NO ONLINE PLAY, ONLY LOCAL MULTIPLAYER! This seriously dampens the experience, and unless you really like kart racing or know some friends who are getting the Vita and this game, I'd pass. Rayman Origins is supposed to be an awesome platformer that everyone overlooked last year. Launching on Vita day 1. Releasing Soon-ish after release Most of these should be out soon, so the next couple of months. Escape Plan is a downloadable title that's supposed to release on PSN. It's a puzzle game of a sorts where you have to lead the two leads through dangerous trap filled rooms. It's primarily touch-based. Unit 13 is being developed by the original Socom developers and looks like it might be pretty decent. As far as I can tell, it's being released in March. Gravity Rush looks like a beat-em-up style game, but with the added twist of allowing you to change the center of gravity. Little Big Planet is amazing. It seems to boast having all the same features as Little Big Planet 2 while utilizing Vita specific features like the touch pad, camera support, and more. The Future Announced games Resistance: Burning Skies I'm not a big fan of the Resistance games, but Burning Skies looks pretty amazing on Vita. I think this is supposed to be out by the holiday season. Killzone Game Mortal Kombat Vita Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey HD Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD Zone of the Enders HD Collection Call of Duty Assassin's Creed Final Fantasy X Persona 4: The Golden
Preordered a PSV last night with MGS HD collection, uncharted and ridge racer. I fucking forgot about a memory card, that's a right stick in the dick - it already costs £305 just for that lot, and then another £30-£40 ontop of that for a decent sized memory card. :l
Maybe I was slightly too harsh with the pricing but it's still very expensive (£230 for the preorder pack) considering that we're going to have to shell out about £20 for the 8GB memory card, when you can get an 8GB microSD for under £5.
Well right and wrong. You have to remember that the PSV memory card is a class 10 card, whereas really cheap microSD cards you used as an example are really slow. The excuse Sony uses (which I partially agree with, but at the same time this is Sony so everything is proprietary) is that the cards are expensive because they need to transfer data quickly. It makes sense because you can install games on the cards themselves. BUT, this doesn't mean I am happy with Sony going proprietary on the cards. Instead of just re-using loads of my class 10 SD cards, I am forced to shell out money on something that can only be used with 1 device.
Thank you. I looked for Uncharted but it's not on Amazon.ca, neither is Rayman Origins...
Rayman Origins is not on the US website yet either, but I still hear that it is going to be a launch title, so it should hopefully pop up sooner or later. Odd that Golden Abyss is not up yet, can't explain that.
I'm going to try out Persona 4: The Golden. I remember that it played similar to pokemon (however the SMT series came out first before pokemon, it wasn't that popular though).
Gravity Launch looks like it's going to be a launch title now according to a leaked GameStop document. SOURCE 1 SOURCE 2 Also according to that document. Little Big Planet is coming March 31st, but seeing as how this is a Gamespot Document, I'm inclined to think that's a placeholder date, since it's a Saturday. Rayman Origins is not listed yet, so maybe it won't be out at release. Resistance is listed as coming out sometime in May. If Gravity Launch really is a Launch title, I probably will try to get that alongside Uncharted. EDIT: I cannot get the second video working. Torn between getting UMvC3 or Unit 13. Definitely getting Uncharted and Wipeout though. Also, I am going to go ahead and reconfirm my First Edition Bundle preorder with you guys, even though you probably don't care.
PSP 2 should had just been PSP slim with 2 analog sticks plus better hardware, maybe a camera. Then its worth it.
PSP 2 should had just been PSP slim with 2 analog sticks plus better hardware, maybe a camera. Then its worth it.
So pretty much the Vita? Unless you're saying that it should not have touchscreens or be less powerful, and honestly that sounds pretty shit.
So pretty much the Vita? That will at least be more worth it then vita+ the psp go crap
