Got plenty of games you really should play, and it's not that expensive these days, so if you're a gamer of any description then yes, it's worth it.
Having said that, Wii U is not too far away and will be able to play Wii games, so that could be an option for you, too.
Decent only if you're willing to spend your free time swinging a battery-tethered remote around instead of picking your nose. Mine got knocked over and the motor inside broke so I stopped using it.

Although the homebrew community has been pretty slow lately, using emulators with the classic controller isn't a bad idea. Also, Gamecube backwards compatibility if it matters to you (just be careful with the larger memory cards)
LetterBomb? What, does that let you install Homebrew without fucking around with the hardware in it?

Yeah, that's what it means to softmod your console. It's pretty easy to do with the Wii.
I only use my wii for netflix.

VICTORY!
I tried doing the old way of doing it, and almost broke the damn thing. But I need a SD card, and the only computer that has a port is a old crappy laptop, that cannot connect to my computer, and the CAPTCHA for the hackme website doesn't work on that computer.
I am fucked once again.
Bought one at Christmas time. Wife and I never play it.
I already own a Wii, but this thread makes me want to try Monster Hunter Tri.
I bought it and took it back the next day. It is very grindy. Even though I didn't get up to fighting even the first boss, I thought that the battle mechanics were awful. I could see myself getting use to them, but I couldn't see myself putting in the time required to collect materials etc.

I softmodded my Wii with the SD card that came with my 3DS :v:
I own a Wii. Only console of this generation I got. It's got a helluva lot of fun exclusives and has the strongest homebrew community.
Worth it if you can get it cheap.
The godfather:Blackhand edition is amazing. I would buy the wii just for that game.

I'm in the same boat, and it feels bad man. I used to be decently well at Brawl mods and knew how to edit skins/polyedit/moves/ect, but it was buggy as hell back then. If only I had a working computer with SD card compatability I would be all over it.
I got a cheap one, Bathaxx'd it. Heaps of great homebrew, bought like 25 games for it too. Awesome library.
If you're into RPGs, then it should be noted that Xenoblade Chronicles is coming out this April, and The Last Story is also coming out sometime this year.
So if you have the money for a Wii, I'd say why not.
One acronim confirms you should buy it: SSBB
Heres what you should do, Get a good computer. Buy some good Wii games and get a controller, then download a wii emulator and play your games on the PC! HD quality on PC with emulation but no HD on Wii.
Yeah with a fuck-ton of bugs and crashes.
Thanks but no.

Wait, maybe I could copy the files to a thumbdrive, and transfer it to the Laptop.
I AM BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!
The Wii is good mainly for the Zelda series.

PCs can't even read Wii disks.

best wii game
PCs can't even read Wii disks.
Exactly; Wii discs can be ripped, but only buy a Wii. Unless the idea is to buy the discs, never use them then warez the games, but that still isn't legal at all.

Scarface: The World is Yours is also amazing on the Wii.

Oh, or that
I own a Wii and I'm so dissapointed that it doesn't have HD. I mean what the fuck, the guys who emulate it on Dolphin can play on 1080p, but me, a guy who paid for the console can't? The fuck, the fuck.
If your going to get it Get Sonic Colours (Yes a Good 3D Sonic Game with no gimmicky sonic friends)
