thank god for task manager, I avoided it by closing javaw.exe with task manager on the "You're DEAD uhuheuehueuheu!" screen
it didnt put me in the lava, instead on flat surface.

I built a fairly large biodome in the nether, made a very nice wooden house, added a well built farm with lightstone lamps, AND A FUCKING EXPLOSIVE BED TO TOP IT ALL OFF.
Kind of my fault, this one.
Got round to making a map, set off to find whatever. Working my way up along edge of map, spot some pigs. While collecting meat, I lose my sense of direction. I check the map to see which way home is.
I have walked off the map.
I do a huge circle to try and get back on, to no avail.
Lost in desert with an old iron spade, a bow (no arrows), some bones and a fuckload of cactus.
Oh, and I can't find any snow.

What was so bad about Beta 1.3?
Putting serious effort in building an awesome housing with loads of decoration and other stuff but suddently you find your residence horrible and simply start to build a new one.
I was surprised when it turned out the underground isn't as incredibly deep as I thought

When forests would chain burn down and entire map and when multilayer survival meant half the things in game didn't work.
My beef isn't with Minecraft, it's with Java and its horrible limitations and memory management. Garbage Collecting causes lag spikes. I'm on a system with only 2GB of RAM. I can't even take an [F2] screenshot with visibility set to Normal without Minecraft running out of memory. :/
