Hey guys I'd just like to say I take everything back. This game is bullshit
As of right now, you need to be online all the time to play C&C 4. This is primarily due to our "player progression" feature so everything can be tracked. C&C 4 is not an MMO in the sense of World of Warcraft, but conceptually it has similar principles for being online all the time. While some may be taken aback by this, we've been testing this feature internally with all of our world-wide markets. We wanted to make sure it wouldn't take away any significant market or territory from playing the game. We have not found or seen any results that have made us think otherwise. You won't need a fast connection, in fact, you could be on age-old dial-up, and have the same single player experience as everyone else. Online all the time won't cause lag for single-player. We've also heavily worked on the online infrastructure such that people with slower connections will not lag other players with faster connections in Multiplayer.
What we are doing for multiplayer for the game and with our infrastructure for this game is unlike any we've produced before and I think you will finally see the culmination of a lot of key leanings from past projects in C&C 4, in this respect.
I really hope this doesn't mean what I think it means. Deep down I doubt that you 'really' have to stay connected just to play singleplayer but what the fuck. Why does a player's progress in the game have to be tracked? Does it mean that if I want the full experience, if I want to play the game 'right' I have to ALWAYS be connected?
Yet people still can't get over it. I'm not an EA fanboy but I really don't see why should I hate them. I don't really care who owns the game as long as the game is good. My first C&C game was RA2 which became the RTS baseline for me (even though when I first got it, Westwood was already no more). Fanboys say the earlier stuff were better, I can't agree with them because I find the first two games too restricting. They say C&C3 is crap; I don't see much of a difference between C&C3 and RA2 aside from the obvious graphic improvement and gameplay changes. I say all C&C titles are godly (except Renegade, of course) regardless who made them, because THEY HAVE THE BEST STORY, PERIOD.
How dare you insult Renegade. Renegade was the single, most awesome FPS I have ever played. I mean, who doesn't love an FPS built on an RTS engine?
Wait it just says "Ending the Tiberium story arch."
There's still Red Alert and... egh, Generals.
Fuck, C&C 3 was fine, but why pull this shitty stunt all of a sudden.
God, I liked C&C because it was simple and fast paced, not a fucking RPG with a big party and top down view.
I can't be the only one who thinks the units from that screenshot look absolutely hideous and boxy.
This is going to be a disaster.
As soon as a modding SDK comes out, you can be sure the C&C community will do as much as they can to bring back classic C&C building.
Still, I'm hoping this really doesn't suck. At least I hope it doesn't suck storyline wise; there's just too much unanswered shit that needs answers for.
Answers that don't suck dick.

If they make another Generals then I hope the whole of EA burns down and their bank accounts get deleted as the employees accend to a better job in a decent company.

I thought generals was fun, me and my brothers kept playing together on lan.
Generals felt like the only thing EA didn't do too many major fuckups.
It was, however, retarded that the GENERALS part of Command and Conquer Generals had to be put in by A FUCKING EXPANSION, Zero Hour. Luckily I bought both for 7 pound on a trip to london.
However, at the state EA is right now, they shouldn't ruin generals.

Sounds more like a really fun DRM, rather than tracking "player progression".
I'd love to hear how many pirates they are going to stop by this one.
I probably wont bother to even download the demo, as the screenshots look like SHIT.
That's what I hate with the new games, it's LAZ0RS on everything. The tanks only get some minor upgrades that have no visual change whatsoever, just changes "the power core", laz0r damage etc.
It just feels so lame when everything got lasers.

Generals ruined itself by being shit.
This can easily be a huge fuck up. But whatever, I'll buy it just for the closure to the story.
the screen shots did not have scrin?
This game was awesome in my childhood, now they're just milk-, wait, they're plain raping the series.
Somebody should set up a website which C&C fans can donate money to Petroglyph for them to buy the C&C Series.
Then they can start acting like westwood again!
think of the AWESOME GAMES they would make

Generals wasn't shit in my opinion , it's just that it wasn't a command and conquer game.
It was just like any RTS game.
dam it why did WestWood have to give in to EA evil speechs
They were making renegade 2 then EA canceled the project.
And they ignored the Yuri Revenge ending. so no more Yuri in red alert :(
I read the story and Kane is going to GDI HQ. :downs:
Sounds like GDI have brainwashed him.
or he brainwashed GDI HQ yuri did that well allies HQ
The mammoth tank looks like the one from Tiberian Sun, still I don't expect too much from this game :(.

Too bad that westwood was bought by virgin interactive who was then devoured by EA.
New screeenshots, too big to post here so i'll post a link:

To be honest for a game thats supposed to be "grittier" than C&C 3 the scorpion tanks just look silly.
Also in the screenshot showing the build list the 3rd unit along looks like something made in spore.
It doesn't look as violated as RA3 was.
No basebuilding. =[
That was one of my favorite things to do in C&C.
Ahh, nastolgia of Red Alert...
Why do people think Generals was a good CnC game? USA was so overpowerd, that it could 100% of the time defeat any of the other team if you knew what you were doing.
Then they released Zero-Hour, which didn't fix this, but created the USA-Air faction, which was even more overpowerd. Everyone that played it online would refuse to play anyone who was USA.
EA didn't patch this obviously (if they did it would have been fun maybe)
I do not recognise this as the C&C game. The C&C games ended with Tib Sun
