2D Platformer. Easy.
Actually a good idea
Port C++ or C# to Visual Basic, get good grade, be loved by all. [sp]Yes I realize that doesn't make any sense.[/sp]
Make a simple quiz game or something. It doesn't have to anything amazing. Especially in Visual Basic, dohoho.
2D Platformer. Easy.
Well actually, the platform collision code can be quite complex.
Pokemon MMO
Since you already have Ammo coded: A FPS, in Quake/Unreal Tournament style.
I made a game once in Visual Basic, took about an hour to 2 hours. It was Darth Vader vs Steve McQueen. You both fired laser and who ever got hit died and the game started over. It was 2 played WASD controls for player 1 and Arrows for player 2. All you need is simple hit detection. I handed it in as one of our 3 needed programs. Although our class is full of retards whilst they were making lottery programs or wage calculators i was making games haha.
might as well make a rough prototype of fuck shit up, it has to be made eventually.
Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Go.
Make a shmup. They're easy to make. You don't have to deal with physics or anything dumb like that. Just a thing that moves in 8 directions and shoots stuff. Now, if you want to make a GOOD shmup, that will take you about 4 years.
3 different squares racing, the winner is random and you get to choose what a square should be named :3:
Good luck.
Easiest thing that could still be fun would probably be a retro style top down shooter where you're a plane or spaceship or something. It's simple and if done right, can be quite addicting. Make a action game, as soon your character does a "action" the game will go slow-mo and you gotta press a series of letters/numbers
just make an ascii turn based strategy game
Aliens, 'nuff said.
A turn based trench warfare strategy game, with simple graphics and only a few units.
Turn based games would take a lot longer and be a lot more difficult than a game where everything is moving in real time.
Remake fuckin doom, with new levels n monsters n guns n shit.
I created this abomination in 4 hours and I have already made $153 with it : http://www.kongregate.com/games/Matoking/epileptic-headsmashing-game-2000-deluxe The sad thing is that I broke the win condition at some point and haven't bothered to fix it. Moral of the story: Create a game that has flashing lights and monotone gameplay.

I started programming a character movement engine that's where it hit me.... I can't rotate the fucking sprite unless I make the image a picturebox so I did that, and it wont move Seems anytime there's a picturebox in the scene the movement controls don't work I fucking hate visual basic 5.0 >: Might just do it with a newer version or in another language
Splish 'N Splash: Dildo Warriors.
It's been nearly a week So far, I've got working ammo, a single working gun, 2 zombies entities that walk towards the player that the player can kill and i'm only at 300 lines of code so far, each zombie that I add adds another 50 or so lines because unfortunately I cannot do a simple instancing technique with visual basic 5.0. Am going to add an rpg system which has multiple skills which gain experience and level up on their own, as well as a general level/xp system which will affect the progression of the game/the zombies.
Congratulations. I wish you luck on your journey to make a game in Visual Basic in 3 weeks. I think we'd also like to see the end product when you're done!
The most important question here is: Why the fuck does your school teach VB5?
