• Sony to start charging for all PSN subscriptions

If this is real, then there is no reason to keep playing on a ps3 unless it's for the good singleplayer games.
Until Sony says it on there blog I won't believe it.
I wanna see an official press release and not some stupid blog post.
They would flip a shit because they of all people understand the public relations and financial repercussions that would incur if such information was presented in this manner. Meaning they'd pull out because they would foresee the shitstorm that would ensue with the advent of such an announcement.
I think all that would happen is a lot of people would be pissed of initially but since Microsoft already does it wouldn't affect ps3 sales that much. But still, the more I think about it the more this article sounds like bullshit. It just doesn't seem like the right way to announce something like that.
Ok I just read this Now let me ask the following. How many of you are aware how massive companies, say Sony for instance, handle stuff like their PR and press releases? Because I can guarantee you no company with the finances and reputation on the line like Sony would ever even BEGIN to imply something of that magnitude in the way the article has worded it. Do you even realize how their stockholders would react if such information was spoken like that in such a manner? People aren't stupid, they'd see through that. This article is outright bullshit and this is either a really bad early April Fool's joke or someone trying to damage Sony. "We are forced to charge". Stop right there. There is no fucking way a company will word something like their motives or reasoning behind "charging" for something so bluntly and outright. Thus nullifying this entire article. Like I said, I'll believe it when there's an official press release. But this just reeks bullshit to me.
It's a translation from dutch to english. Don't expect it to be worded well, just convey the meaning.
Not on Destructoid or Kotaku. Don't trust it.
Probably a bunch of bullshit, but just to be safe, A LAS BARRICADAS!
I've seen this rumor time and time again, and it's been shut down time and time again. Do some research people, the only fee you would have to pay is for the OPTIONAL premium membership. They denied rumors like this on Screwattack.com like 3 months ago in the News section. You people need to stop believing everything you read, especially when it's not on very trustworthy sites. The $60-$80 a year is the estimated price for the premium service, which will give you early access to demos, betas, and free PSX classics (Along with other features I can't remember off the top of my head). That's right, every PSX classic will be FREE if you have the premium account. If you buy at least 1 PSX classic a month, it pays for itself.
Godfuckingdamnit. Now it's official; no PS3 for me. Unless this is an early april's fools joke.
Fuck yes. Those damn PS3 elitists hardly have anything left on 360 players now.
lol ps3 has better grpahix [editline]10:41AM[/editline]
i've seen this rumor time and time again, and it's been shut down time and time again. Bullshit. Source is about as reliable as Josef Fritzl would be as a Babysitter.
I feel sad....

Can you people stop panicking? This news has appeared literally NOWHERE else. If it were true, it would be huge. Watch GamePolitics, QJ.net, or PS3 Fanboy. Until it shows up on one or all of those, it's fake.
The OP shouldn't have been so serious about it then.
OP is dumb, it's up to the reader to do their own research instead of just blindly believing everything they read.
It's definatly april fools...the only reason it's early is so that it might fool bigger publications in time.
Sony had said, during the release of the PS3 that PSN will always be free, and specifically chatsized XBL. Calm your shit down.
Well, if this is true it looks like I won't have online on my PS3 anymore. I can't afford to pay online subscriptions for my Xbox and PS3. And I have mainly singleplayer games for my PS3 anyways. Not too big of a loss.
Fuck this shit! Hopefully it's not true.
What the shit. If this is true then I'm selling my damn PS3. The main reason that I changed from a 360 is because I don't want to constantly pay just to play online. Fuck you sony. And even if it's an april fools or whatever, they have been talking about it for years so we'll have to wait and see.
EETS NAHT TROO Guys.
Meh, never play online anyway.
Seems the dutch source site retracted their news story when I tried to clarify it (I'm dutch). This still doesn't mean it's confirmed made-up though.
i dont think this is true, sony have always said that they would keep online free. i doubt they would go back on that. it would piss a lot of people off
Can you guys read the original source? ITS A CONFIRMED APRIL FOOLS JOKE The article links you to http://ps3clan.nl/fooled_you.php
We know the Premium service is coming later this year, although we haven't seen any official plans or details just yet. However, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai may have dropped a bomb we weren't expecting: according to European site PS3Clan, his latest statements say that if you wish to remain a PSN subscriber, you'll have to pay...no matter what. Most of that article through the link is in Dutch but it's the English translation of Hirai's comments that will turn plenty of heads and ruffle a few feathers:
[editline]01:06PM[/editline] http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/6835.html
Hah.
I bet an Xbox looks mighty fine right now.
^ I dont wanna start an X-Box Vs PS3 debate, we all know what we like. But dont you folk think the gap between the two is getting smaller ? I mean both have now had some pretty damning reliability problems, Both cost money to go online, Performance and Graphics are generally similair, The cost of both consoles is a lot closer now, Traditionally exclusive games are starting to crossover from one to another, Infact i guess what im saying is its starting to not matter so much which one you buy. Crossover playlists would be sweet. (dont worry, not a serious suggestion, just talking hypothetically) I'd love an X-Box Vs PS3 game of COD4 or MW2.
Both cost money to go online,
The article was an april fools.
