Most Overrated Games? - Games

Prototype was so hyped that I almost screamed when I got it for 70 dollars on release day.

Honestly, every somewhat good/popular game gets a lot of hype. Examples: Fable, Gears of War, Bioshock, ect. People will talk about these games for a while in the hype and then just stop later. Hype =/= Overrated.

-L4D2 (The first one was great. 2nd had bad characters, bad setting, I just really didnt enjoy it after -playing it for awhile) -all COD after WaW -mass effect series (Played them all, nothing special, and it's fanboys are even worse) -TF2 (It used to be good, like someone else said its Hat Fortress II now), -halo games after 2 (2 was alright, CE was amazing) -Minecraft (its a good game, dont get me wrong..) -STALKER Call of Pripyat (I'm only saying this because it gets more love than Clear Sky which was better imo) -Final Fantasy series -World of Warcraft (I played this a bit, nothing special, and in the end its all about getting fake items..) -Pokemon (It was fun when I was 8) -JustCause 2 (Yes it was fun, I played the demo for 5 hours, got the game and it was boring as fuck. It's definately pretty, but the environment is empty , not much to destroy, clearing bases was a hassle, etc...)

I don't think HL2 was [i]that[/i] good when it came out. I can base that almost entirely on the fact that HL1 is still way more fun to play now than HL2.

It seems that not everyone here knows what overRATED means.

CoD after WaW, runescape(lol), Halo series

Halo is the most overrated FPS in the history of mankind.

Assassins Creed, Mass Effect. And to the popular FPSs, your personal experiences aside, are nice. But those(Halo, modern warfare, medal of honor) swing on many charts.

WoW and Gears of War. Gears isn't bad in my opinion, but it never deserved the hype that it got. But that's only my opinion.

Minecraft, dwarf fortress, bad company 2, L4D1, portal and HL2

Half-Life 2. Certainly.
