ironically I haven't seen this game mentioned since it's release so i doubt it's overrated.
There's also something called overhype. It was extremely overhyped before release, promising a lot and not delivering, and when it came out the hype went dead almost immediately, because of how poor it was. Amazing concept but poor delivery.

Wind Waker. I was a huge defender of it back when it was still controversial, but now I realize that OoT, MM, and TP all outdo it in most respects. Don't get me wrong, I still love it to death - There is no such thing as a bad Zelda game. (Outside of the CD-I of course.)

the valve fanboy inside me wants to come to every person who said HL2 is overated's house and beat the shit out of them with a baseball bat jay and silent bob style. Half-life 2 is the best game ever made. HATERS GONNA HATE.
How is it the best game ever made. Its excellent, but miles off the best game ever made.

Starcraft2. Played it, got to diamond league, stayed #1 in my league, ranked 1,000th~ overall in US, then realized that its a depth-less game with a horrible brain washed community that actually believes the game is fun. It's about as fun as watching competitive math competitions. The game can seriously be played by using simple flow chart tactics. If you play Zerg, you just learn how to adapt and counter and you will win 50-60% of your games. The other 50-40% of your games you will lose due to sheer bad luck. With the only way of preventing that bad luck is to study every type of build order, aka know how many scvs are on the line, the number at which he gets gas etc. Then you have to make simple decisions on how to counter. Not to mention the lack of variety, I've been in situations where I've played 4-5 games in a row EXACTLY the same, with my opponents doing exactly the same build/strategy. [editline]21st November 2010[/editline] Not to mention the community defending the game to the death. When ever you suggest a change or say that some thing is horrible or too strong the community throws a tantrum screaming "ITS THE WAY BLIZZARD WANTED IT TO BE". And what kind of game is balanced around bases on plateaus with small ramps?
