Well I guess it's time to start learning... (command line commands...) Challenge accepted.
It's not as hard as it looks like. it just needs some time to get used to it. you just need to learn the basic linux commands. If you have any questions/need some help, you can PM me anytime.
I know some commands. I'm totes going for this no matter what. I am extremely curious how I will get my php uploaded and what not... I'll figure that out! Woo.. feel so pumped (i've done a couple of cool things this past week) [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] A shutdown command would ve nice (my ... ee key is roken) [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] it says i need to go to the root but i'm... there by default.. i/ did cd / (becasue that's how I refer to the root when i'm doing html markup stuff) which brought me to like $/ or something.

it says i need to go to the root but i'm... there by default.. i did "cd /" (becasue that's how I refer to the root when i'm doing html markup stuff) which brought me to like $/ or something. [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] "need to be root"
are you executing the command as root? if not, then use this command: "sudo shutdown -h now" sudo is used to execute a command as admin(root). in linux, the admin is called root.
I should document my entire server project. I've got a lot of things going so I'll have to make it weekly at the least. Everything from reformating my computer to digesting the minecraft data structure to... coding my custom online portal... Everything! [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] plus it'll make me feel like i have friends.
Install Gentoo.
arch
Hannah Montana Linux http://hannahmontana.sourceforge.net/
Install Gentoo.
Perfectly recommended for a linux beginner :v:
You guys should consider switching to TC-Admin 2.0 -- works fine on CentOS 6.
We've been running TCAdmin for quite some time now. And due to the fact that we use some high density nodes with lots of concurrent clients in our Panel, we stood away from using CentOS 6 since TCAdmin themselves said only 32bit mono is supported on 6. Not sure why, but who knows I may just try it out for myself very soon. We have great sucess even with the stock kernels, the saying is true here. Don't fix what isn't broken.
Arch Linux or CentOS
Arch Linux
I've had no issues with Arch Linux on my home server and it uses less resources than Ubuntu Server did. So I have to recommend Arch Linux.
Noway, only ubuntu server, most easy to set up and use.
