I flooded my food areas with magma and told my dwarves to stay inside, just for fun. My fisherdwarf went berserk and killed a dog, a wrestler, and a bowyer, and two wrestlers rushed in, punched him in the throat, and proceeded to beat him to death as he was in the process of breaking a baby's wrist. The baby was saved.
Edit:
also my farmer is on fire
Edit:
the baby has burned to death

my mayor is throwing a tantrum

just make a refuse stockpile outside and dwarves with hauling enabled will clean up automatically
just make a refuse stockpile outside and dwarves with hauling enabled will clean up automatically
i did, but they just walked past it... but i think with more dwarves theres more chance to remove it
Just started playing this, I'm hooked. Is there an easier way to assign beds? It takes me forever to give a bed to each of my 40+ dwarves.

just make them a free bedroom, they'll claim it themselves.
No. They do that only when economy starts. Gotta assign them manually before that. So, MadMan, you'll have to keep doing it with the "a" key, but when the tax collector & his buddies arrive, you can just make the room and it will be automatically rented to dwarves.

Not true. I'd always just make a bed free, and the dwarves would auto-assign themselves to a bed, making that room theirs.
No, the dwarves will claim any free bedrooms when they get sleepy. Done that lots of times.

So does this mean I've been spending ages assigning beds in all of my forts for no good reason?

Yes... For a DF God, I can't believe you didn't know this.
Haven't there been times when you've forgotten to assign a bed to someone and you find out they've already claimed a bedroom?
Only beds I assign are for special dwarves who have get special rooms.

The way I've always thought is that dwarves get a bad thought if they sleep on an unassigned bed or a non-roomified bed.
[editline]07:34PM[/editline]
the more you know
My dwarves were thirsty, and there was nothing to brew. My well, to be attached to the underground lake under a mountain and above my fortress, wasn't built yet.
so I DRAINED THE UNDERGROUND LAKE HAHAHAHAHAAAA
but now I need to make sure that I keep the zombie cave crocodiles inside

Now, why would you go and do that?
:psyduck: what have you done?
:psyduck: what have you done?
well I went and gave them something to drink didn't I
Edit:
I plan to refill it from the underground river which is here somewhere, eventually
The top of every page should say "Oh my god it's released!" so people will go to the site so they can check for their goddamn selves.
Oh my god it's released!
I'm drowning in coke, and I have enough steel to give every man, woman, and child in the fortress with a full set of Plate Armor.
Time to descend into madness.
The idea of creating Megabeasts intrigues me. God knows I'll probably spend more tine with that than anything else. :v:
Should create a Valley of Death, which SWARMS with Megabeasts. :byodood:

Heh I thought that too, thought they threated unassigned beds as "barracks" :v:
[editline]11:33PM[/editline]
So 150 dwarfs = 150 bed assignments.

I made a huge 20x20ish smoothed barracks with a couple golden statues/artifacts and a waterfall going down the middle, and they're mostly ecstatic. (or would be if their pets weren't dying in droves)
Whaaaat? I can just make 1 really nice barracks and they'll all be happy?
God damn, I've been smoothing and having my master engraver detail every room.
"is the new version out yet?"
Ignore the mud, the waterfall had a plumbing accident.

That's what I use, and I love it.
It makes it easy enough to understand, yet doesn't totally change the look of the game like Mike Mayday.
Something about Mike Mayday looks too cartoonish.
you hit the nail on the head
I made a two man swordsman squad consisting of the two best attributed members of the fortress, I clad them in the finest quality full suits of chainmail, then plate armor, I let them train for 6 months until they were around proficient in armor, shields, and swords.
The opportunity to strike presented itself when a large ambush came out of nowhere, one of the Dwarves ran off to sleep while the other one was alone to face 8 Goblins and one Dwarf Wrestler.
Needless to say, a zombie skeletal giant eagle came out of nowhere, attacked the goblins (killing 5 of them, the rest were killed by the soldier.)
The God damn giant eagle attacked my Dwarf and ripped out his left eye, other then that he's unharmed, but the eagle escaped.

Oh God, he also has a yellow wound for his head.
Will he ever regain consciousness? He is Unbelievably Tough (the other attributes are Unbelievable as well)
He was Tyr's battle buddy :ohdear:
well he will still be able to fight, but not as effectively. It would be cool if he became blind though.
I had a dream where DF2010 came out, it was so awesome. Then I woke up, and cried a little. :saddowns:
