What's that tool that allows you to manage your dorfs?
Dwarf Therapist. Fucking ninja'd.
Thanks.
Your damn post gif freaked me out. :argh:
Thanks for gathering all the new features together. Even though I check Bay12 fairly often, it's hard sorting through everything to find the concise changes.
Let me summarize my (and entire threads) feeling for DF '10. WANT! WANT WANT WAAAAAANT, WANT NOOOOOOW WANTWANTWANTWANT WANT WAAAAAANT!!!!!!
I want an instructor with no eyes teach a class how to use a Crossbow. [editline]07:55PM[/editline] Or a guy with no arms and legs teach a class how to use an axe. [editline]07:55PM[/editline] I'd call him Stumpy.
Haha, on a more serious note though. Injured dwarves will now have a use.
To be honest, it'd be pretty disconcerting to go into a wrestling class and have the instructor roll into the room with a yellow lower spinal cord injury, but of course at that point in a fortresses life, the Dwarves in the classroom will have seen more horrifying things. Toady should totally add wheelchairs, so we can have spinal injury dwarves do drive bys.
Haha, on a more serious note though. Injured dwarves will now have a use.
I'm not satisfied before I can load them onto catapults.
I'm not satisfied before I can load them onto catapults.
Or load severed heads onto catapults and launch them into enemy lines. That'd show those Elves who they're messing with.
Thanks for gathering all the new features together. Even though I check Bay12 fairly often, it's hard sorting through everything to find the concise changes.
If you're referring to the OP (and I hope you are) then you're very welcome, that's why I did it.
It's been quite some time since I've played some Dwarf Fortress. And even longer since I've posted in this thread. But I've been lurking ever since I stopped posted. Time to pick up this game again...
I have found the wait for the new version is lightened by playing Minecraft Indev and Infdev [editline]01:03AM[/editline] It's like Diet Dwarf Fortress in First Person [editline]01:04AM[/editline] Although I do relapse and play dwarf fortress... it's way too addictive :buddy:
So, I had a semi-good fortress going... had a chasm right next to my fort pretty much, with a zombie troll, purple slimes, and zombie batmen and antmen in it. I had 5 champion wrestlers, and 3 other wrestlers, and I decided to go to one floor of the chasm that was populated by the slimes and antmen... heedless to say, my fortress collapsed.
I plan to make an dwarf made lake, with boats that are my fortress, each boat would have a different department and a centeral group of submarines as a noble palace and guard barracks, a few would be "sunken" to the lake bed to be used as the farming sector. They would all be connected with bridges and the submarines and boats would be connected with tunnels.
Ok, I'm starting up a new fort. Anyone wanna be in it? Here's what you can be: The Jock (Miner/Weaponsmith/Armorsmith) The Drummer (Miner/Carpenter) The Emo (Woodcutter/Axedwarf) The Nerd (Building Designer/Mechanic) The Stoner (Grower/Herbalist/Cook) The Frat Boy (Grower/Brewer) And I'm the Teacher (Miner/Trading Skills)

Any tips for a person trying to get into DF?
Any tips for a person trying to get into DF?
There's several tutorials out there. CaptnDuck has a series of video tutorials, which are pretty informative, as you actually see the action being done, so you can understand it better. After Action Reporter also has a tutorial, which is in chapters, and includes a save, so you can follow the guide easier(In CaptnDuck's or Your First Fortress, you might have a hard time finding a good area.). There's also the Your First Fortress guide on the Dwarf Fortress Wiki, which is supposedly good, but I've never really tried to follow it myself. Here is CaptnDuck's tutorial playlist. Here is the After Action Reporter tutorial. Here is the Your First Fortress guide. Good luck, try not to get overwhelmed by all the information, and most importantly, never give up.
Is anyone else planning to hold off getting the new version until someone has put together some tutorials for the new features? I know I am.
