You can play Dwarf Fortress over telnet with full chat support and hot-swap direct control of the game.

Loofiloo has been quite content lately. He was upset by the delayed release of DF2010. He was caught in the rain recently. He had a truly decadent drink lately. He ate a pretty decent meal lately. He talked with a friend lately. He was pleased to receive a good grade on a writing assignment recently. He is unhappy with the abundance of schoolwork lately. He has been annoyed with his roommate lately.
I can't wait until we have DF2010 and are getting much more frequent releases.
