Also, dwarf traders havent come three times in a row, maybe because I killed half of their dwarves last time.

Watch Captain Ducks video tutorials, the only one's you'll [I]really[/I] need to watch are the one's pertaining to the development of your "Life Critical" assets (farms, barracks/rooms/workshops, zones, etc.)
Here, if you're willing to keep at playing this for around a week or more, I'll be able to get to my computer with steam and I can help you out over steam chat.

BTW i never understood what's the point with farms, i'm probably doing something wrong but i barely get any food from them while i get lots and lots of food from fishing.
I prefer fishing.

Once I got to around 75 Dwarves, I had 4 large farm plots and 5 planters.
Every single available tile in the 4 large farm plots were filled, I was easily making 100-150 plump helmets per season (or even per month, if the growing speed is only 33 days, not sure though.)

i had a farming fortress that had a huge room filled with plots of every kind of underground crop it owned
i would trade a couple lavish meals for everything the traders had
I usually stick with farming and fishing I make my dwarfs pseudo vegetarian.

1. Make sure you're planting Plump Helmets and make sure you're planting them in the right seasons
2. Make sure you have dwarves with the Growing skill enabled
