Maybe Toady's Building up for something Big
New Version will release March 26 and i shall collect all E-Money
New version is already released, but Toady's hiding it because he hates everyone.

Then it's not really released, is it?
This looks absolutley ridiculous
A soldier has officially earned the title "Beowulf."
He ripped the right shoulder clean off a goblin.
This looks absolutley ridiculous
It's a super-detailed RTS/roguelike hybrid sandbox fort simulation game, obviously it seems a bit ridiculous at first glance.
This looks absolutley ridiculous
Once you get through the "Life Critical" stage everything gets exponentially easier.
Specifically, the ability to construct a rudimentary self-sustaining fortress in ideal conditions.
This looks absolutley ridiculous
After you get past the simplistic graphics and lose a few fortresses, you get the hang of it and it becomes insanely fun.
I always lose my hunter.
ALWAYS!
WHY!
I always lose my hunter.

Hunters have to experience the thing Dwarves call "Outdoors."
Prolonged contact with "Outdoors" results in a rapid descent into depression, culminating into a sort of suicidal urge to attack anything more dangerous then the Hunter.
Thank god, I am terrible at finding stone, and I'm very new at this. Just found a huge deposit of alunite, this will make up for my lack of trees.
[editline]01:54AM[/editline]
What the fuck? My food deposit is being flooded by something purple!
[editline]01:54AM[/editline]
Nevermind, everything went back to normal.... Freaked me out there...
[editline]01:56AM[/editline]
I guess the first layer of my fortress, which is soil (Red sand i believe) I'll try to use for farming and manufacturing, and in the third layer (alunite) I'll use for the rooms and such.

Purple stuff is Miasma comes from rotting food/bodies/junk build a refuse pile outside so you can dump all your junk by pressing P>R then selecting the area you want to use as a dump. Also Miasma isn't that bad ,but it does cause your dwarfs to have bad thoughts.
Yeah I freaked out aswell the first time I saw Miasma. I thought it was something like the black plague and that my dwarves were all gonna die along with their pets and the recently born kittens.
dont build a refuse pile outside
make a room for it underground and then seal it with a door
I know tilesets are usually frowned upon here, but I'm looking for one that isn't as cartoony as mayday's. Can anyone give me a link to one?
God damn, I already made a huge piece of shit pile outside. I guess I'll have to remove it later somehow?
Also, I don't seem to have any wood on this map. How am I to build beds and chairs?
[editline]02:25AM[/editline]
Well, I've found around 10-15 trees after highlighting quite a large portion of the map. I hope it's enough.

p>x and then select the refuse pile outside deletes it
and you need to trade to get wood then
Oh, bitch nuts! A caravan arrived really early but said my site was unnaceccable. Now I'm going to need to dig a tunnel so they have a fucking entrance.
[editline]02:39AM[/editline]
My first time dealing with traders, they're asking what requests I have. What should I request?
This guy is a riot.
My first time dealing with traders, they're asking what requests I have. What should I request?
uh whatever you need
God bless my fortresses mascot, the crippled cat.
Bitch just walks around and sits in my food stockpile.
Where'd you find that? Or did you make it yourself :v:
Made it myself. :buddy:
[editline]11:02PM[/editline]
New devlog made me cream myself.
The main issue now is a frequent random crash that has appeared that I'd reeeeaaaaally like to have cleaned up -- we caught one of them just now that happened when an old mayor needed to have mandates cancelled after losing an election. There still one that happens in younger forts though. Testers are on their seventeenth version overall, and I imagine it'll be that way for the rest of you as well once I get it sorted out, bandwidth permitting.
"Stands up" spam in the combat log led to weird repetition of previous announcements... all sorts of problems with fluid containers... fixed up some temperature check code that sped things up a bit... lots of cheese/milk job problems fixed...
Woohoo! My first migrants. I was surprised, almost 15 dwarves came.
[editline]03:06AM[/editline]
And who would've thought. The bitches went straight to my dining hall to eat from my small stockpile of food.
I always lose my hunter.

Next time you get a hunter, make him have crossbow skill and recruit him into the military as soon as you can, then send him out when ever somthing trys to loot your wagon.... fucking monkeys.
How does one build a trade depot? I can't find it on any of the building lists.
How does one build a trade depot? I can't find it on any of the building lists.
Its b-D
[editline]03:39AM[/editline]
also you'll need an architect to design it n' stuff
[editline]03:40AM[/editline]
and a mason/carpenter depending on what you've made it out of.

The valley area my dwarves inhabit isn't reachable my the traders because it's on a mountain, so I made a long tunnel reaching out into the open world. Where should I build the depot? The tunnel is 3 tiles wide.
[editline]03:51AM[/editline]
Wow, my miner is like superman. He's "unbelievably agile, very strong, touch, high master farmer" and many others. What a badass. Plus the crippled cat is his pet.
