I wish you could explore chasms and magma pipes, like there was a climbing skill

You could be like Tom Cruise, except there's the imminent threat of melting.
On a side-note, when I wanted to start a Fortress, I needed to find some awesome way of getting rid of my adventurer. Luckily, the Goblin Fortress I found had a massive pit by it. I jumped in, fell four z-layers and greased myself across the bottom of it. :v:

Whenever I see a pit, and want to give my adventurer an awesome, fitting end, something always goes wrong.
Last time, it was only two layers deep, and all that happened was I broke my foot and got stuck in there.

That's when you retire them.
I'm sure they'll find a way out on their own. :v:

toady should add a climbing skill, so there would be a type of kobold or goblin that could climb on walls in sieges, and various animals like monkies and stuff, it would spice it up a bit.

I'm not sure how many of you know about this, but as soon as I start understanding DF better I'm gonna use it.
I don't think that that thingy was fully functional back then, I could be wrong though.
Why won't any of my fuckers build a trade depot? I set one dwarf with no other tasks but being outpost broker and furniture hauling or something like that, and still he doesn't want to do it, he just sits there with "no job".
use the kill command on him
oh wait
Finally the DNS problem is sorted out and I can access bay12games.com
Has anyone else had an issue with way too many multi-race dark fortresses in adventure mode?
none of my worlds produce goblins that can hold their own
I bet their beards split open in to glorious wings, and they fly using pure, alcohol-fueled awesome.

Olms keep crawling out of the underground lake and dying. :v:
Actually they twirl their beards over their heads Rayman style.
Wings are for pussy angels.
Incidentally i'm about to set UP a game of DF via Telnet. i'll post the address here once i've got it set up.

It happens to me on a few occasions, but the Goblins from my worlds are unusually hardy. The only race that seems to like taking their fortresses are my Tentacle Demons. :kamina:
Try connecting to

There's the channel I'm doing my LP on, if you want a name post a comment or I will forget!
Which is a shame...
Connection failed...
How?
Via a telnet client. Preferably PuTTY (yes the u is lower-case)
Pressing CTRL-A allows you to identify yourself and it also switches between play and chat.
If you can't see the chat box at the bottom and the names to the right then just drag the window till it fits.
When a few more people join i will gen the new world and embark on a location of everyone's choosing.
Windows 7 telnet works fine though?
[editline]12:50PM[/editline]
oh i am a retard. You need to connect via port 8000
The most impoartan thing they tell me to do and i forget to tell you.
Give me boxes we shall make a cardboard fort.
I was just about to say it was a port problem.
[editline]12:51PM[/editline]
Nope still not.
If that STILL doesn't work, get putty from here.
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
you just want the putty.exe one, it's downloads the .exe and it runs, no zips no rars no installers just double click and it runs.
Nope.
Can somebody add me on STEAM and teach me about this game?
Have you forwarded port 8000?
YOur telnet doen't work.
Ok lets take a step back and start from the beginning imma go restart the server and find out how you need to connect.
There are also a few options i want to fix first.
Forward ports.
my router should automatically forward required ports. But i'll look into that too.

Not unless DFTerm uses UPnP to open them.

[editline]01:58PM[/editline]
