DANG NABBIT! Give us a moment [editline]01:58PM[/editline] in theory i just asked it to use UPnP. But i'm guessing it didn't work, try it anyway.
DFTerm doesn't support UPnP. You'll have to forward the port manually.
Can somebody add me on STEAM and teach me about this game?
I'd happily do it, I'm just not on my computer with Steam on it. I'll send a friend request within the next couple days though. [editline]10:16AM[/editline] Nang Dabbit! I keep trying to imagine the Demon Leader as this (which is what Toady probably was thinking of when making the Demon.) But I always see it as the Cyberdemon.
ok i allowed telnet connection on port 8000. This MIGHT work ill give it a shot.
Why won't any of my fuckers build a trade depot? I set one dwarf with no other tasks but being outpost broker and furniture hauling or something like that, and still he doesn't want to do it, he just sits there with "no job".
Does he have the "Architecture" labor enabled? [editline]03:29PM[/editline]
Skeletal animals don't have mommy/daddy parts, so they won't respawn. Unless they're the spawn of Armok, in which case they MAY re-animate. Also, don't let a drop of blood hit the water, Dwarves can't stand the taste of bloody water.
If you use a well, the "bloodiness" of the water will be gone, and dwarves will drink it...
inb4 cant see shit captin! i'm working on the problem now.
I keep trying to imagine the Demon Leader as this .
Heh, I'm already imagining normal Demons as the one in the picture. The picture is epic, 100 dwarfs surrounding the demon. Everyone dead :(

Ok anyone who wants in on the dfterm game can connect to . 192.168.1.69 on port 8000 and remember to set the remote character set to UTF-8 or you will probably end up with just gibberish
Ok anyone who wants in on the dfterm game can connect to . 192.168.1.69 on port 8000 and remember to set the remote character set to UTF-8 or you will probably end up with just gibberish
IP is useless, go to whatsmyip.org, and post what you get
yes i tried that but it's the IP for my router (i think) 86.142.149.4 try it anyway.
Wait, DF works via telnet? I thought it displayed the ASCII characters as tiles, not as actual console characters? Also, if you're hosting on port 8000, please make sure you have done the nessecary port-forwarding in your router's settings. Rate me bad reading please I didn't see the DFterm discussion.

Yes the port forwarding is done (i think) so anyone who wants to join ,come have a go.
No, it is not working. I cannot connect. And before you ask me to check my PuTTy settings, I work in a company based around network administration - I am very, very familiar with networking.
was only going to ask if you tired both IP's
was only going to ask if you tired both IP's
Any IP beginning with the subnet identifier of "192.168" is a local IP only. It is only usable and visible by comptuers on your LAN, which is why port forwarding is so important, as it allows the router to choose which computer to link to on a certain port - in this case, it'd be port 8000. Everyone has a 192.168.x.x IP address if they are using a router. Your external IP is the one you got from whatismyip.com. In short, learn how to forward your ports, do it, and then we can play DF. Hoorah.
was only going to ask if you tired both IP's
The other IP you posted(192.168..) is your computer's IP on your LAN. Useless to anyone outside of that. You still haven't properly forwarded port 8000 to your computer.
When my router says it has some kind of smart UPnP allowing it to open any port it needs whenever it's asked for I EXPECT IT DO DO SO! Where's my screwdriver? i'm going to give it a reporgramming it will never forget! [editline]04:11PM[/editline] port is now open. Router status: Scared shitless
Up to vote! Should I build the pyramid over the HFS? Yes/No? (Note: I intend on building a burial chamber for my queen below the pyramid, probably at the lowest depth.) While the desecration of the queen's tomb for Adamantine would be horrible, the image of Dwarves, well, desecrating a sacred area for an extremely powerful metal (and demons spewing out of the pyramid) is awesome.

After engraving every section of the fortress, I have relegated the 5 former engravers to mass mason duty to construct Dolomite blocks (whitest block I have, I would've done marble but hey, I didn't have it.) They'll also be used when I'm constructing the pyramid proper. I'm at around 300 Dolomite blocks and rising.
ok and just to re-iterate Port 8000 is open for business. I'm set up and waiting
ok and just to re-iterate Port 8000 is open for business. I'm set up and waiting
Nope, it isn't. Use http://www.canyouseeme.org/ to check if something running on a port is visible to the outside world. Also post a picture of your port forward page.

What is this conversation on IP's and routers even about?
it's not an issue with this router, more an issue with my computer. The port is forwarded. (port 8000 was opened) It's got to be an issue on my computer. Blasted windows 7 and it's over protective security measures
but wtf are you even trying to do
dfterm
