A legendary champion in the making.
How do I zoom in and out? I have done it before, but I don't remember. Mouse wheel isn't doing anything.

You must raise him well, for he is the spawn of Armok come to sow chaos amongst the undwarvenly.
What would you say is the best way of feeding my fortress? Is farming really worth all the assery?
So, in the cavern, a towering clear glass quadrupe with four huge horns came out of nowhere and now its wandering around :ohdear:

Yes, it is. You only have to irrigate it once, and it's not hard at all.

That works with the openGL update which hasn't been merged with the new update yet.

Farming is reliable and can provide everything you need. Yes, it's worth it.
I'm on my first functioning fortress right now, building some topside houses and putting off venturing into the deep for now. I'll get there eventually though, with a buttload of soldierdwarves.
Is there magma on the bottom level now?
I've never played Dwarf Fortress, is it any good?

And...what's it even about

I go to sleep, wake up and there's 362 new posts. :v:
Wait, you have to irrigate underground farms now? That sounds complicated, do you just run water over it every so often?
Well this is hard.
My stagering food supplys are getting worse as my 7 dwarfs goes to 16.
Our already small water resivoir dried up in the summer, we can only hope for the worst this comming fall, we are trying to pump enough crafts to purchase the food to get us through the winter. Our only source of food is fishing and farming.

I wish I had visual fortress for this version.
Wow. I just forget one of the most basic hotkeys for DF. Holy shit.

Fuck, my first quest in my adventure and I need to face a bronze colossus.
Wait, you have to irrigate underground farms now? That sounds complicated, do you just run water over it every so often?
I think you can actually make a cavern underneath the farm and fill THAT with large amounts of water, since by logic, the roots of the plants would reach down into the water, which has cave nutrients in it, therefore feeding the plants.
(AKA: Dwarven hydroponics)
Oh jeez oh jeez oh jeez it's out it's out it's out!

I know I'm late, but I just found this out.

Trees have roots now?
The first dwarf I get that gets a minor right leg injury is going to my fort's diagnostician.
He's also going to lead my troops into battle. :awesome:

nope

Once is enough I think. It's not that complicated. Just build a reservoir system with floodgates. You want enough water so that the area muddified is big enough for you but little enough water so that there's only 1/7 per tile and it evaporates away.
When I change my resolution to something higher, it doesn't allow me to see "more" of the map. Anyone got the same problem? It just stretches the window.
I just realized the joke. The joke was that Toady said he'd release it on the 2nd. It gets released a day before!
I put together a installer for Dwarf Fortress 2010 for those of you who like stuff like that. It includes a version of the May Green tileset. http://trulydrmad.blogspot.com/2010/04/dwarf-fortress-2010-is-here.html
Didn't you already have a barrack? I thought they wouldn't do drills without barracks. I made mine from an armor stand.
I designated one from a weapon rack and they did nothing. But from a bed they immediately went filled-face and started training.
How do I turn on arena?
4 Dwarves and 3 pets just spontaneously bled to death.
They were doing their stuff, then suddenly a trail of blood followed them, then they die. They were migrants, but there are no dangerous things around, and half of them started spontaneously bleeding INSIDE my fort. It would have been fine if all of them died, but one survived and he was friends with pretty much every one of them. I expect there to be a depression spiral very soon.
Edit:
1 of them was not a migrant.
Edit:
2 more, and now a horse is 'Faint'

It's Ebola.
Did they eat any raw Rhesus Macaque meat recently?

Were they outside, and was it raining?

You need to change [GRID:x:y]
x = screen size / text width(8 on 640x300 font)
y = screen size / text height(12 on 640x300 font)

No
Were they outside, and was it raining?
My fort is now only 5 dwarves.
