• Absolutely horrible looking texture problem in HL2 and beyond

I used to have the same problems on almost all games. I used Catalyst 10.4 and every time I turned the PC on without it at startup the games would look fine. After updating to the latest version (10.10 IIRC) there's no need to do anything. Everything looked good.
Bump, because, well, it's still not fixed. The textures in this shot are all in "low" quality mode even though the settings are still at their highest. I tried updating my drivers, reinstalling the game, exiting or changing the settings in CCC, but to no avail. :saddowns:
Looks like your graphic's card settings are low, bro.
Looks like your graphic's card settings are low, bro.
They're all set to Use Application Settings. Setting them higher makes shitty looking half-invisible bumpmaps on the ground and walls but the textures stay the same.
delete config.cfg in steam/youraccountname/half-life 2/hl2/cfg and restart the game
Change the "Use application settings" to highest settings possible. [editline]18th November 2010[/editline] in CCC

Hooray non-compressed textures! I'd hug you if I was able to and if it wouldn't be totally gay so I'll just stick with a heart rating instead!
Open the console, enter "clear" and "differences" (in that order), and the copy+paste the results here.
If you had followed this piece of advice, I could have just told you which console command(s) was/were causing your problem. :colbert:
but then i'd have to go in and change all of them :effort:
There probably weren't very many commands (if even more than one) responsible for the crappy texture quality. You wouldn't have had to change more than about 3 commands, most likely.
The problem is kinda... *ahem* SOLVED.
I know. I'm just saying that deleting the config.cfg was unnecessary.
It worked anyway. v:v:v Now I can zoom in on Alyx's breasts and pretend it isn't a shameful thing to do in pixel perfect quality!
Now, download FakeFactory and enjoy zooming on HD jigglebone breasts.
Wow, frznbxy rated my posts late.
