I'm too cheap to get this game for my 360, but I'm afraid the game won't be any fun without a joystick :(
The controls on the PC are good, I think I fly better with them than on my PS3 but it's not a fun as with a joystick ofcourse.

Ok, That's good to hear. I'm downloading the PC demo now, perhaps I'll research into how I could use my 360 controller on my computer :)
Can anyone tell me how to use my 360 controller on my computer? It could save me a lot of money and time :)
The game works fine without a joystick so if you don't let the lack one stop you from buying it.
Is this out?
No just the demo.
Same time line, same job in both H.A.W.X. and GRAW
Clancy sold out quite a long time ago, back when he released GRAW. As far as I can see Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and End War are the only ones with Books behind them.(technically Endwar's book was released at the same time so its more of a companion the an inspiration)
EDIT: Cheers Bman212 for the pics
God how I hate the new Splinter Cells
no not a move, just stalling in general, I just like to go as high as i can and then stall it and see if i can recover. except it's not fun when a fucknugget is screaming at you for having fun
If I was a passenger in your jet I would be screaming at you too.
I got the demo but haven't had a chance to play it yet, should I set up my Logitech Dual Shock for it or just use keyboard?
I find it odd how they call it "turning assistance off" when it actually gives you more assistance.
"Turning assistance off" is more like switching into "dogfighting for dummies" mode.
I'm terrible at this game, I wish I could change the controls

What?
When you turn assistance off you can't use ERS.
Yeah, which helps you do one thing and that's hit obscured tanks. Anything else is easy with assistance off.
I played again now I don't suck at playing as much
Whats better? Logitech Dual Shock or Keyboard + Mouse?
I played the demo so many times, I kept shooting the giant Jesus statue with missiles whenever I got the chance. I pre-ordered it too so I get some extra jet to use.
Holy fuck assistance off is impossible to control with the mouse aaaa
Most annoying tutorial ever
Also ERS doesn't seem to work on this computer, unless I am doing it wrong. I pressed both alt keys and nothing happened

Fly on expert mode with the arrow keys, it's awesome :) As to the ERS, you only need to press the left alt key (If it's alt you press).
Wait, are people saying you can choose between either awesome manoeuvres OR cockpit view?
..what kind of choice is that? :|
I'm going to try the demo of this game when I get home.
Anyone know how good it'll run on:
Q6600 at 2.4GHz
8800GT
2GB of RAM
I haven't played any games on it yet, (It's at my house, I haven't used it yet), I was just wondering if it's intensive at all.

You don't need to turn assistance off to maneuver well, it just makes it easier because it makes camera control automatic, which is why I find it wierd that they call it "assistance mode off" when it actually adds more assistance when it comes to dogfighting in the form of an automatic camera.
Admittedly it does make sense in a way since I know how hard it is to get new players to look around in any flying game. (look up look up! For Pete's sake you can move you head around, do it!)
In cockpit view in most close dogfights, ideally you should keep your enemy you are pursuing towards the top of the screen and in some cases a little bit further so they're a bit off screen. Without going into the geometry regarding why it works that way, this applies to just about any dogfighting game regardless of the physics being employed. You should only face directly at them briefly when firing your cannon or a missile.
Unfortunately, getting people to look up is hard. It's one of those things you can keep hammering into the heads of new players but a lot of them never seem to get it. What they basically did was make a different camera mode where the camera is controlled automatically to give the best view and take away some controls and HUD elements so as not to distract the player.
In other words its a "dogfighting for dummies" button. I don't mean that in a bad way mind you, but that's pretty much what it is.

Alright, thanks. Now I just have to get the damn thing to actually start up and I'll be set.
"The application failed to start because d3dx9_39.dll was not found."
Halp?
For those of you who keep stalling, here's a tip: Level the plane, then start speeding up.
so, how is the STEAM demo of hawx?
I want to install it but steam is being gay and won't let me put it on my proper partition.

You should have pretty much no issues running it.

It should run fine, my computer's pretty similar and it manages to run it smooth on full graphics settings.
Wow, I really suck if I don't have Assistance ON, though I would call it cinematic mode. But are there more differences than just different view and smoother movement?

I know, I press left alt and nothing happens :(
I've been flying with the mouse on normal mode and assistance off's been driving me crazy, haha
It's like trying to herd catssss
UGH Stupid Demo isn't working. It installed and showed me the requirements and said everything will work then I hit quit and I can't find any icons anywhere.

I got it to work now.
The trick is NOT to fly with expert mode on because you'll be screaming in disbelief at the difficulty of the game. Like I did.
I thought assistance off was hideous at first, but it's actually really useful when you need to make a ridiculous midair 180 degree turn.
Step 1 - Make sure you're flying straight away from the target (they should be following you, the camera shouldn't be moving anywhere much).
Step 2 - Cut throttle and veer left or right at the same time. You will now perform a ridiculous 180 degree turn. You need to ease out of it (or yank violently out in my case) and this takes practice.
Step 3 - Remember to bring the throttle back up when you're coming out, not too early, not too late. It takes some skill and perseverance to get the timing just right, but if you do it right, you'll be right behind the enemy and you can loose both your missiles at them.
It's still a bit confusing for me sometimes, but just remember that you can only go up, down, left and right in simple mode and you'll eventually get it.
Oh, and pressing alt only does anything in 3 situations :
1) When you're targeting a plane and need to intercept it
2) When you're gonna get raped by a missile and you need to avoid it
3) When you need to get at an angle to kill an entrenched ground unit.
1 and 3 are DEFINITELY the most useful.
