Deus Ex incoming boxes from wahhing people hiding behind their nostalgia shield.
How can it be nostalgia if I first finished it last year
So much HL2 hate in this thread. Must, resist, rage...
Seriously? No really . . . nobody? Allright . . .
How can it be nostalgia if I first finished it last year
nostalgia can be from anytime even yesterday
Every game is shit because people cling to nostalgia? ok
I'm going to get chewed out for this, Half Life 2, nothing that great about it, at all.
nostalgia can be from anytime even yesterday
Man I remember when you posted this... ...nostalgia :D
Every game is shit because people cling to nostalgia? ok
no only games that constantly are glorified for shit that nobody cares about nowadays
Half Life 2 . . . whats so special about it? One or two "OMG SUPAH PHYSICS RIDDLAS" which you get lots of in penumbra . . .
Because of it's awesome graphics, great storyline and the way it isn't like any other game out there.
MW2 Bad Company 2. I tried COD4 at a friends house and I liked it, so, I bought the sequel! The campagin was good, but the multiplayer was bad. Then I hear that "Ooooh Bad Company 2 is SOOOO MUCH BETTER!" So I payed for that too, and what do you know? Same shit, with minor differences. And I still play MW2 from time to time, I only played BC2 for 2 hours and it was bad. The Multiplayer was bad, and the campagin was uninttresting. I want my money back.
every game ever made
Man I remember when you posted this... ...nostalgia :D
I lol`d
People who say that Half-Life 1 & 2 are average shooters don't seem to understand that both games introduced many elements that revolutionized the FPS genre when they were released, and that those elements have since become standard in shooters. It's like calling Doom a bad game because the gameplay is simple compared to modern shooters. Edit: I am of course referring partly to this brilliant statement:
Half Life 2 . . . whats so special about it? One or two "OMG SUPAH PHYSICS RIDDLAS" which you get lots of in penumbra . . .
First part is more fun.
Seriously? No really . . . nobody? Allright . . .
San Andreas is so much better then GTA4
GTA4, let's take all the fun elements out of GTA and shoot Manhattan with brown guns! Starcraft. I don't see what the fuss is, in my mind RTSs are about controlling armies, not 10 men and a few vehicles that clip into oneanother. Plus, 3 races is rather weak in my opinion, the story may be rich (I don't know, is it?), but an RTS is about commanding troops to victory, story is generally in the backseat, at least for me.
Starcraft 1 was overrated but not Starcraft 2, which is pretty fun. Other overrated games include but are not limited to: •Halo 2,3,ODST •BFBC2 •MW2 •CoD4 •HAWX [editline]12:30PM[/editline]
Half Life 2 . . . whats so special about it? No bland, generic, extra-dark or extra-shiny textures that you find in over 90% of 'modern' FPS games. •Mods. •Great storyline with interesting characters and a wide variety of enemies and allies.
Because of it's awesome graphics, great storyline and the way it isn't like any other game out there.
The graphics are nice, but the storyline is kinda meh. Alien Empire invades world, you fight it, also with zombies thrown in that fight everybody. It's kind of like Halo, but less "YEAH LET'S GO KICK SOME ASS" and more like "Gordon Freeman is our only hope for... some reason..." Seriously, what's their justification for making Gordon Freeman so great? He's a nerdy scientist in a hazard suit.
Everything made by Valve.

I haven't seen a similar story in any other game, with the possible exception of Beyond Good & Evil. And no, it's not like Halo. Also, why does Gordon being able to shoot down hordes of aliens need justification? Would you rather have that Valve made him a generic space marine or some stupid shit?
Something tells me people are mentioning games in here only because they don't like them... Halo for example and I'm only talking about Halo 1-3. In no way overrated.
There are several games in here that I quite like(d). :saddowns:

That's completely different. The Alien Race has actually taken over, rather than being in the process of invading. I can't think of any games like that. It needs justification because it ruins immersion. They didn't need to really need to make him into a space marine or some macho-man or something like that, but do the Dead Space approach and give him things he'd know how to use right off the bat and be good with. Like, I can understand the gravity gun, since he's a physicist, that's kind of a good weapon for him. Give him other weapons like that, rather than "MASHEEN GUN BLAM BLAM"
Uncharted games Modern Warfare World of Warcraft Dwarf Fortress Minecraft
How is DF overrated? If anything it's underrated because people just go "it has ASCII graphics and I can't understand it so it's bad". Minecraft? Maybe... maybe... not really.

Seriously, what's their justification for making Gordon Freeman so great? He's a nerdy scientist in a hazard suit.
I would say Gordon is their only hope because he was the one who caused it. So it's kind of his way of paying that back, plus the G-Man is manipulating things, the escape from Black mesa was merely a test from the G-Man (the same applies to Adrian Sheppard). G-man wanted to see just how well Gordon could do in those kinds of situations, and put him into Stasis (we assume) for the time between HL and Hl2. No idea why he chose Gordon to fight the Combine, but whatever. The Halo series is fairly overrated, the first was good (it hasn't aged too well though). But the more recent ones just don't seem quite as good, possibly the nostalgia filter getting in my way here. Guitar Hero on the other hand, now, that is overrated. Sure it is fun, but do we really need to hype up and praise the same game we've played before with a new gimmick/ twist added?
