Oh, alright. That's completely different. The Alien Race has actually taken over, rather than being in the process of invading. I can't think of any games like that. It needs justification because it ruins immersion. They didn't need to really need to make him into a space marine or some macho-man or something like that, but do the Dead Space approach and give him things he'd know how to use right off the bat and be good with. Like, I can understand the gravity gun, since he's a physicist, that's kind of a good weapon for him. Give him other weapons like that, rather than "MASHEEN GUN BLAM BLAM"
I always figured gordon was altered in some weird quantum physics/probability way when he got caught in the test chamber during the resonance cascade, somehow making his death unlikely. But that's just my personal, non cannon, justification. I agree it really doesn't make much sense that he can gun down hordes of enemies.
demons souls and stalker (all of them) they may be good but they get to much praise from the internet community
So basically, every good game out there is overrated.
So basically, every good game out there is overrated.
yup
Half Life 2, I mean it's a great game and everything (and VALVe is my favorite game company) but it's not super fucking amazing like everyone says.
I guess that does make sense, but I think the official explanation is that Gordon knows how to use guns because the player knows how to use them.
But we probably don't know how to use them. We know how to press the reload button and the shoot button.
So basically, every good game out there is overrated.
In someone's opinion, every game is overrated. FarCry 2 Don't get me wrong, I think it's a pretty cool game, but it got way more attention than it deserved.

It does seem that way if you just read a list or something of the content it provides yet for some reason, I find Halo's multiplayer to be more addicting than any other multiplayer game I have and to me it looks like Reach may actually live up to the hype or at least be another great 2010 game. Also my overrated games: Left 4 Dead 2- Felt like the EXACT same game with a few new toys and I liked the first one's settings better. Borderlands- Combat felt good and the RPG elements were nice but got incredibly boring unless played with good friends.
Half Life 2 . . . whats so special about it? One or two "OMG SUPAH PHYSICS RIDDLAS" which you get lots of in penumbra . . .
Maybe because half-life 2 did it first. [editline]11:02PM[/editline]
The graphics are nice, but the storyline is kinda meh. Alien Empire invades world, you fight it, also with zombies thrown in that fight everybody. It's kind of like Halo, but less "YEAH LET'S GO KICK SOME ASS" and more like "Gordon Freeman is our only hope for... some reason..." Seriously, what's their justification for making Gordon Freeman so great? He's a nerdy scientist in a hazard suit.
The storyline in Half-life 2 was amazing because it was one of the first games who really managed to tell a story by using the environment. Halo 1 at least was a fantastic game, which brought a lot to the table. Like regenerating health and how you threw grenades with the press of a button instead of swapping to it and then throwing it.
Also all Metal Gear Solid games. They're just not that special. Same goes for Final Fantasy (especially VII). They're outdated and can't get a proper battlescheme working yet everybody ejaculates spoons on them.
Also all Metal Gear Solid games
It pretty much invented the stealth genre. Along with having an amazing storyline, great characters and fun gameplay.
I was going to say "EVERYTHING ON THE PS3" but then I remember that the PS3 has no game.
It pretty much invented the stealth genre. Along with having an amazing storyline, great characters and fun gameplay.
A good game doesn't make it super special. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just saying they're overrated.
Bioshock. Never liked its stiff combat and lacking RPG elements. Killzone 2. Rotten plot and characters. Broken multiplayer.
I like all your agrees, Before Killzone 2 came out and I made a comment about how generic and bland it was I got nuked with Boxes So *Clears Throat* Told ya So!
I was going to say "EVERYTHING ON THE PS3" but then I remember that the PS3 has no game. [img_thumb]http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs50/f/2009/326/9/9/PS3_HAS_NO_GAME_by_FreshNfly89.png[/img_thumb]
Wow, that joke got old about 2-3 years ago. I've read your previous posts and they all reek of stupidity and fanboyism. You're one inch away from getting on my ignore list.
It pretty much invented the stealth genre. Along with having an amazing storyline, great characters and fun gameplay.
While Metal Gear Solid was released two months earlier, I think Thief was a much more important innovator in the stealth genre.
Left 4 Dead 2, it's not bad but it's not a worthy successor to the original Left 4 Dead. If anything it's what Left 4 Dead should have been (minus being in the day time.) Modern Warfare 2, 'nuff said.
People who say that Half-Life 1 & 2 are average shooters don't seem to understand that both games introduced many elements that revolutionized the FPS genre when they were released, and that those elements have since become standard in shooters.
Exactly. It's the same reason Seinfeld Is Unfunny.
half life 2 wasnt that great
Exactly. It's the same reason Seinfeld Is Unfunny.
Except people don't say Half Life was great for it's time, they say it's great period. I'd be willing to say it was amazing for it's time, but it's fairly average in this day and age.
Minecraft. I enjoy Build Mode but I do not get Survival at all.
Half-Life 2 The interesting story, conceptual design and set-piece parts almost makes up for that game's horrendously bland gameplay. I can excuse is in Half-Life 2 but I can find no way to explain why the Episodes have failed to build on the mediocrity at all. I loved the original Half-Life.
A good game doesn't make it super special. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just saying they're overrated.
Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. :iia:
The majority of platform-specific exclusives are just "BADASSMUTHAFUKA" Simulators. i.e. Gears of War, Killzone and Crysis.
Everyone seems to hate Half-Life 2. You guys seem to be making a band wagon, but I do agree with you, there are a few boring levels and it seems much shorter than Half-Life(which I honestly don't like very much due to gameplay), but it has a lot of fun moments and firefights that make using the physics fun.
Modern Warfare 1 and 2 Halo Metal Gear Solid 4 Starcraft 2 World of Warcraft
MW2 BC2 Starcraft 2 Don't get me wrong, I love SC2, but it was lacking a little in the atmosphere department. And it was just a taddddd too overhyped. Man this thread is making me angry. It's full of people that are going "oh more than one person likes this game, I have never played it before but I don't like it for some arbitrary reason so it's overrated." Or better yet "I don't like this game because lots of other people like it." Oh and anyone who says SC1 is overrated can goooooo fuck themselves. [editline]12:24AM[/editline]
Agree, starcraft is pretty much propaganda.
I have no idea what you're on about. How the fuck is it propaganda? Don't use words you don't understand.
