Ugh I'm stuck between renting this, or Far Cry 2. I'm leaning towards Mirror's Edge because I have a feeling FC2 is just going to be another generic shooter.

How long does this game's singleplayer last, and are there other modes to give it some replayability? I know there was a time trial in the demo. Anything other than that?
About 6 hours from what I heard, but only if you rush it. Probably something like 8.

There's a ton of fun in replaying though, and there are about 30 different time trials (plus speed running, but that isn't very fun).
save yourself the money, rent it. I beat it in two days, and i'm already bored.
I bought it 2 days ago. Beat it. It's fucking sweet. Edit: It's waaay too short though, It should be double the chapters.
I love the gameplay but I think I'm going to trade it in, wasn't quite worth it.

I just saw rule 34 of Celeste and Ropeburn. :geno: I cannot un-see.
By the way, for those who are confused with the concept, i'll help out. Freerunning is running in an urban enviroment whilst dodging obstacles doing flips and shit. Parkour is getting from A to B as quickly as possible, using the enviroment to get there quicker
I can't stand the character. I do NOT want to play as a female asian. What's with that tattoo on the eye? I just don't like her. :(
It would have been pretty cool if they would have let you create your own character.
It would have been pretty cool if they would have let you create your own character. T
I changed my mind after playing the demo, it isn't too bad. I'd rather hear her voice of exertion than a man's "UGH!" when you land.
You guys do know ME is gonna be a trilogy, right?
Yes and also they just released a video of the new DLC! Which will be new Time Trial levels! And as an added bonus, an additional map! For the PS3! Here! http://www.gamecyte.com/mirrors-edge-pc-dated-january-2009 EDIT: To not cause confusion, the Time Trial levels will be for all. The additional map is a PS3-exclusive, if you haven't known already.
additional map is a PS3-exclusive, if you haven't known already.
What the fuck is DICE doing? Fuck you, you're no better than EA. :argh:
Jesus Christ, after try and try I finally got a nailbiting finish for the speedrun on Chapter 3, and I got the Chapter 3 speedrun trophy. Chapter 2 is a pain in the ass...I've missed that trophy by mere seconds
I'm normally an achievement whore but the speed runs are making me too freaking angry. Fall once = FUCK FUCK FUCK FGSDHS
FUCK YES!!! I JUST BEAT THE SPEEDRUN TIME FOR CHAPTER 2! Good god I cannot express what a relief it is to have finally conquered that godforsaken level
FUCK YES!!! I JUST BEAT THE SPEEDRUN TIME FOR CHAPTER 2! Good god I cannot express what a relief it is to have finally conquered that godforsaken level
Good luck on chapter nine, you'll certainly need it :v:
Good luck on chapter nine, you'll certainly need it :v:
I actually did much better than I expected on that. Was only behind about 20 seconds, but I died once or twice in the final room so that sort of screwed things up. Otherwise I should have that down without much of a problem.
The only guy you need to counter a runner is Bond. :v: Oh, come on you've seen Casino Royale.
Got the platinum trophy yesterday, so happy :excited:
Should I buy this or no? My brother and I have a few games we want to trade in and I've heard mixed reviews on this. Is this a rent or a buy?
I don't like this that much but I might ask for it for christmas or something.
Should I buy this or no? My brother and I have a few games we want to trade in and I've heard mixed reviews on this. Is this a rent or a buy?
I see it as the kind of game that either clicks with you or doesn't. Gametrailers said it best that if you're looking for something fresh and new, definitely give it a shot. Personally, I love this game. It's exactly the breathe of fresh air I've been wanting from a game for a long time. Over the years, I've seen the difficulty in games drop dramatically because of the need to dumb it down for the masses. This game, and I'll say it right now, is hard. And by hard I mean if you intend to get all the achievments/trophies to 100% it and beat the game inside and out, you will definitely get your money's worth. I've wanted a game that will push me to my absolute limits when it comes to gaming, I think I can safely say in the 15 years I have played games, this is the most challenging one I've ever tackled. Sure the single player first playthrough might be short, but then comes time trials and speedruns, where the fun (and frustration) is really at. Let me put it this way, if you get within the speedrun time limit for any level, those are achievments/trophies you'll actually feel like you achieved something and feel good for earning them. Because at it currently stands on both versions (PS3/360), only a handful of people have (myself included).
Honestly renting would be the way to go, it doesn't have enough replayability to take over a week/2
I can hardly wait for the PC version.
Will there be an SDK for the PC version? Or at least a map editor?
