No its not, the textures are half the size they were in the first crysis.

It also plays nicer since their isn't tons of moving trees, with the shading from those moving trees.
The pictures are down, I was kinda interested in seeing this comparison for geeky reasons.
Worth buying and play without a pause?
Or play my brothers copy and play "casual"?
I. Still. Can't. Login. To. Multiplayer.
I have lost all faith in Crytek.
Yeah servers still arent saving my rank. I can't get past level 13.

well considering the textures are half the size and yet it looks better
i'd say they're on the right track
model detail is just important, some things in crysis 1 had intensely huge textures but the model, not so much. and it just looked weird.
You can hardly say that the original Crysis had detailed textures in the first place, considering that they were either featureless (rock textures), covered up (ground textures), or simple (building textures).
I though it'd been shown that the textures were the same size in both games, though? I mean, the last time I saw a comparison, that's certainly what came up (along with a bunch of people screaming "LIAR").
Complaining about Crysis 2 not having DX11 support still seems pointless to me. There are few with the hardware to run it, for one. Furthermore, the meshes in Crysis 2 are already fairly detailed, so what's the use for tesselation? I suppose if you're an enthusiast, though...
DX11, last I checked, didn't seem to add much in terms of notable shader features either, so there doesn't seem like there'd be much on that front. Besides, I'd say Crysis 2 already uses the shaders it has available pretty well, and it seems almost understandable they didn't want to waste time remaking their shaders for a slightly different system that might not even make them look any better!
The only notable thing I can see DX11/10 support adding is anti-aliasing support - and the game already has good post-processing AA. Furthermore, the vegetation in the original Crysis didn't work with AA, and that's likely where the most effect would be seen.
Perhaps DX11/10 support would make the game perform better? After all, they do supposedly include extra stuff for deferred renderers - although all I've heard of is the anti-aliasing.
I guess we'll see, huh? In the meantime, I'm sure some cheap "hacker" will throw up a "texture pack" wherein each texture in the game has been lovingly run through several variations of a sharpening filter and called a "high-resolution texture", as is often the case with PC releases.

Well, real-time optimization and even further detail up close.
But I agree, it's not that necessary for Crysis 2, as it already looks great.

One of Crytek's devs retweeted about this just a while ago:

I don't think they're using it at the moment, but it sure looks like a good way of anti-aliasing.
Not saying the current one wouldn't be, but there's always room for improvement.
Actually, it's a faster and less resource demanding way of doing AA, but it's uglier.
On PCs they are better off with MLAA.

I bet you won't even notice the difference in actual gameplay and motion
Dat feline
Also, I'll be 20 when I get Nano Recharge 2.0
I just finished the game in under 8 hours and I'm pretty pissed how so many magazines gave it 90+ ratings. I give a fuck about insane graphics while the gameplay is ridiculously boring, disappointing, short and monotonous.

the gameplay is great what are you talking about
Agreed, I enjoyed gameplay tons.

You're pissed because the reviewers working for those magazines actually liked the game?
Blasphemy! How could they like it when I didn't?
I, personally, find the gameplay fun and not repetitive.

Play on something other than Easy difficulty.
Any way to get the leak editor to work with the retail game without having to download the leak in its entirety? I really want to have a closer look at what the engine is capable of.
Shits still not saving. Had to re-unlock the Feline and Grendel. Starting to piss me off.
Not that it matters, but anyone know how to level power faster? I really want that mobility enhancement.

Melee, possibly? I'm not sure, but that sounds logical, as it uses the "power" part of the suit.
And running, too, if it increases the level.
they don't do a very good job of explaining things for people who havn't played any of the other crysis games. I don't understand the story of the game

You don't have to know that much of the previous games, just the basics (i.e. that there are guys on a tropical island with nanosuits) to understand the story.
The rest is explained in Crysis 2 then.
Everything you need to know about the first story (in that how it interacts with the second story) is given to you.
leveling up the 3 suit things works something like "the last suit mode used when you get a kill" so if you sprint and powerslide into a kill you get xp for it

I got my power level to raise considerably by running around and doing melee kills everywhere all the time. Make sure to do liberal use of sprinting and power jumping onto higher platforms (you'll need to anyways since you won't be using cloak or armor mode to get the best effect, and you'll be more vunerable if you aren't creative).
I was trying to go for retriever personally, makes sniping god-like IF the hit detection works.

Do objectives count twoards XP gain to suit modes too?

Also I had a dream last night 1.3 was released that fixed all the un-fixed issues 1.2 was supposed to fix :(
Anyone know how the awareness/threat meter works in multiplayer? As far as I can tell, it fills up when enemies get close, but at other times it seems to be telling me whether or not I'm in plain view.
It's just when people are close, and it only works if you have the Proximity Locator nodule.
Anyone have any Cry files for the maps (single and multi)? I'd like to peek into them but I don't have any with the retail instillation. PM me about it :)

Nope.
I agree that the gameplay in Crysis 2 (And really the game overall) is great (But like I said, bug riddled), but you guys need to stop freaking out when people post that they're disappointed or that they didn't really enjoy the game.
The most ironic part is that someone posted "People who work for magazines enjoy good games? Blasphemy!". Sometimes people don't have the same taste in games as you? Blasphemy!
Not everyone will love this game, don't take it as a personal offense.
In other news, seems like my level is being tracked, but not my skill assessments.
Does anyone know where the "Nanosuit Reboot" feature is? I'm wondering if maybe my ranked/unranked matches are conflicting with eachother now that they seem to have fixed ranked games.
Managed to get one of the civilian cars drivable!

Wait... The editor wasn't in retail release I thought?
[editline]Lol[/editline]
This game is really pissing me off. I just installed it, and it's stuck at like, 10 Frames per second, Even in the menu. And I'm relatively sure My graphics card doesn't suck. XFX Radeon 6870...?
I'm really ticked now. The game works fine; The framerate is limited to like, 12FPS. I wanna know why I can't enjoy my god damn Crysis 2. D:
I mean the game is in fact pretty well balanced, the gameplay is fluid and fun but what's with the lack of quicksave? The available video options are also a joke.
Also, is there a health indicator somewhere or just BLOODY SCREEN, SO REAL?
