So I took a shot recreating the Cell camo, I had to fill in some holes and fool around with colours but I think I got a pretty good representation of it, maybe a little lighter and it would be better. Still trying to figure out how to tile it so for now have this incomplete tile. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6092109/cell.png[/img_thumb] [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] Anyone have input?
Looks really good. If you make higher-res tiles I would gladly use it as my wallpaper.
No. If you have armor mode on, it takes quite a few headshots to take you down.
Wrong, kinda. Headshots double your damage, armor mode (if you have energy) reduces damage by 35%. So a headshot with a DSG (60 damage) should kill in 1-2 hits no matter what, though I thnk with armor mode makes it so it takes two hits assuming he has the energy.
What is the point of silencers in multiplayer
You dont show up on the radar when you fire your gun, and its much harder to hear in-game too.
You dont show up on the radar when you fire your gun, and its much harder to hear in-game too.
have you seen how big the silencer looks when you look at your guy in create a class lol
You know what's really tiresome? Seeing people coming into this thread talking about how they hate the game, what they expected etc., can't they just not come in here and go to the Minecraft threads or something? The people posting in this thread like the game, they don't(or shouldn't) care about some random guy's opinion, it just starts pointless arguments.

And on a FORUM of all places? How dare they have their own opinion on this game. A thread on a game should be open to discuss the game's features and how you enjoyed/disliked certain aspects. Don't try to silence other people's opinions. Not on game topics where you're meant to discuss the game.
Gunships super powerful in instant action, whoever gets it wins usually :c
is the jaw bugged or something? i shoot people with it and nothing happens apart from it looks like i have let off a red flare. Sometimes when i'm surrounded i get it out and shoot at the ground when the enemy comes next to me but nothing happens and he ends up killing me what the fuck does this happen for anyone else?
You can hardly say that the original Crysis had detailed textures in the first place, considering that they were either featureless (rock textures), covered up (ground textures), or simple (building textures). I though it'd been shown that the textures were the same size in both games, though? I mean, the last time I saw a comparison, that's certainly what came up (along with a bunch of people screaming "LIAR"). Complaining about Crysis 2 not having DX11 support still seems pointless to me. There are few with the hardware to run it, for one. Furthermore, the meshes in Crysis 2 are already fairly detailed, so what's the use for tesselation? I suppose if you're an enthusiast, though... DX11, last I checked, didn't seem to add much in terms of notable shader features either, so there doesn't seem like there'd be much on that front. Besides, I'd say Crysis 2 already uses the shaders it has available pretty well, and it seems almost understandable they didn't want to waste time remaking their shaders for a slightly different system that might not even make them look any better! The only notable thing I can see DX11/10 support adding is anti-aliasing support - and the game already has good post-processing AA. Furthermore, the vegetation in the original Crysis didn't work with AA, and that's likely where the most effect would be seen. Perhaps DX11/10 support would make the game perform better? After all, they do supposedly include extra stuff for deferred renderers - although all I've heard of is the anti-aliasing. I guess we'll see, huh? In the meantime, I'm sure some cheap "hacker" will throw up a "texture pack" wherein each texture in the game has been lovingly run through several variations of a sharpening filter and called a "high-resolution texture", as is often the case with PC releases.
you have no idea what you're talking about
Let's see: I could go on forever but let me refer to your comparions: When Half Life was released it was something completely new to the young game community in terms of level structure and story-telling. You can't compare one of the first singleplayer shooters with Crysis 2. The Fallout series (I'm referring to part '3' and 'New Vegas') has a shitload of rpg-elements in it, an open world and a ton of sidequests. Also some decisions you make effect the whole gameworld - this is not entirely about walking to an objective and shooting all the bad guys. Unfortunately I can't say anything about Stalker for I haven't played it yet. Crysis 2 fails to provide a unique singleplayer experience since the developers are lacking for creativeness in terms of variety. The nanosuit suggests the player that he can beat a chapter in many ways but the result stays the same every single time. Do I want to sneak to one point, wait until my energy recharges and then repeat step 1 or do I want to shoot every enemy or do I want to do a mix of both procedures? That's it! The consequences stay the same no matter how I play, there are no secondary objectives which for example will bring you better items or advantages whatsoever, there are no moral decisions, the hero is unable to talk. I have absolutely no personal reference to the protagonist. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid game but 13 years after Half Life I would expect a game where it's important HOW you aproach the goal instead of doing everything your navigator wants you to do. This is not only a problem of Crysis. There are so many games with a lack of character.
Are you really complaining that Crysis isn't the same as a RPG? Are you functionally retarded? [editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
is the jaw bugged or something? i shoot people with it and nothing happens apart from it looks like i have let off a red flare. The not killing people when it explodes thing is probably a bug/lag.
What is the point of silencers in multiplayer
Lessens the impact while in cloak, so you can fire once while cloaked with the DSG and remain cloaked, but it drains half the energy. Don't think it has any impact on damage though. (Well, not on the DSG) Speaking of which, am I imagining the fire rate increase on the DSG when choosing the Rapid Fire module?
Silencers still drain all cloak energy in multiplayer. Infinite cloak if you can headshot. Couple that with retriever and no one would be the wiser. And I think on post-human only silenced pistols work like that when cloaked.
I have once again proved to myself that the MP in Crysis 2 sucks dick. 16 people sitting in a lobby, the gamemode is Team Instant Action, loading starts. Loading finishes, the match starts. 2 meters away from me is an enemy who hasn't fully loaded yet. Great.

I like the multiplayer but its so inconsistent. Why did they even add killcams if they just show off the absolute horrid hit markers?

They only enter the game once they have loaded the level. He was probably just slow and not expecting such an occurrence to happen. Mind you, it happens to me regularly on whatever the map's name is which is based on the Hargreave-Rasch building. Much to the benefit of my K/D ratio.
Ah so that is why killcams show me shooting like way to the right of a player when I get hit markers on my screen before I die, a lot of the game is client side. Evidenced by the fact that other players have frozen in lag, I kill them, and when lag ends they die. Makes me sad :c
Multiplayer is fun, the bugs and networking lag are annoying though. Found a server that has actually good hit detection. Currently my most hated bug in multiplayer is when the networking "lags" you, and makes it so I am stuck in ironsight mode for whatever reason, or I am stuck without the ability to reload/melee for a few seconds, while my enemy is pouring bullets into me with no problem.
Today, I finally completed my stealth class. Stealth Enchance rank 3 drastically lowers the energy that cloak drains, to the point where you can sprint around pretty large distances while cloaked with mobility enhance. I've been going to nano recharge, since that's what the single player had, but then energy transfer was much more useful, since finding a person to kill is more likely to come first before running out of energy with the enhancements. Finally, the scarab seems to work surprisingly well at close range, despite the scar annihilating everything in everyone else's hands. Also, a tip. Never, ever let your energy hit 0. Cancel whatever is draining energy at the 10-20 range, and it'll start recharging in less than a second, rather than the 2-3 seconds if it hits 0.
Not really a stealth class so much as "the class" unless Crytek changes things around. Everyone will be using Stealth Enhance/Mobility Enhance/Energy Transfer.
Wow, I mean fucking WOW... Crytek's bullshit is really starting to piss me off. I just lost connection in a match after I'd gained the 70xp keft to hit level 13. I figure, "oh well, that's an easy amount to get again". Then I finish another match, and my fucking bar is set back to 1/3 filled on the way to level 13. Somehow, the loss of connection had eliminated MOST if not ALL of the experience I gained while participating in the server. Crytek, fuck you for this bullshit. Your original multiplayer may have been entirely broken in terms of gameplay, but at least shit WORKED the way it was intended to. THIS is just inexcusable; I don't care HOW much you wanted to suck the collective dicks of XBox Live, you don't leave this shit hanging at release, and you don't take WEEKS to solve FUNDAMENTAL problems like these. Also, when a player ranks higher, but doesn't quite WIN during instant-action matches, don't give every player BUT the guy with the most points the "defeat" message. Lady, I just got 1600 experience in that match; I don't think that's quite "defeat", so fuck whatever you're not paying me to "lose like that". I'm not saying "everyone is a winner" or anything, but this black and white "you're the winner or the loser" shit gets obnoxious when it's the ONLY thing you hear at the end of matches, because you're not QUITE god, dont'cha know...
Why are most developers not writing propper netcode nowadays? I never experience any problems with slow connections in Source games except of course "feeling behind". But in BC2 for example I sometimes enter a vehicle and the game catches up to the server and bam I'm ouside again. Or in the Crysis 2 demo where I throw a grenade and the server goes all "No you didn't throw that."

With hex editing it should be possible to make your own class with whatever weapons/perks/attatchments just like it was in MW2. Class info is stored client side, independent of accounts.
you have no idea what you're talking about
Pfft. I'm willing to bet that you skipped to the part where I said DX11 support was pointless and stopped there. In any case, fine! Kindly tell me why using DX11 would substantially improve the game's graphics. Please don't just say something like "it's better". DX10 was supposed to be better than DX9, and most games released nowadays still use DX9. Hey, you know what comes to mind when I think of DX10? Crysis. You know what comes to mind when I think of Crysis's DX10 support? "Exactly the same as DX9 mode."

DX11 provides new features. Of course simply making it using DX11 doesn't change jack shit. Obviously when I say "please implement DX11 usage" I also mean "and use its features". Anyone who remotely thinks about should get that.
Well I managed to completely obliterate my class selection and made it impossible to spawn. Thank god for backups. I guess thats what I get for trying to add several locked perks and weapons to the Assault class... will try a more lean approach tomorrow.
Isn't server/client consistency one of the basic things in "networking 101" ? Wow Crytek.
