Crysis 2 was shit. The first one was at most decent, there was some real sci-fi mystery at its core. We didn't know who those aliens were, what were their motives, what was their origin. At times I felt powerless, even if I played a character that was the best the human military could offer. In Crysis 2 the alien menace is not so menacing anymore. They're some Halo-looking folks and have no clear purpose. The US government deals with an alien invasion by contracting a PMC, as if they're in Iraq or something. Gone is the End of the World™ prospect, only to be replaced by a generic alien shooter with a piss poor plot. Also, why the fuck did they pull a Gordon Freeman on Alcatraz? It doesn't suit him or the in-game setting.
My gosh, that's what I said from the start.. Why would they go from these creepy floating squids to these things with arms and legs just like us?
My gosh, that's what I said from the start.. Why would they go from these creepy floating squids to these things with arms and legs just like us?
because they were 100x more fun to fight. like someone said, there is just something more satisfying about killing land based creatures, and their goop means you can actually see when your shots register and it just feels more right than shooting a floaty metal thing. it was a good change, crytek learned from their mistakes. crysis 2 owns anyone who disagrees is remembering crysis 1 wrong. i know i was, i went back and replayed it and found it to be a lot less fun than i remembered compared to crysis 2 which i had a blast in
I just with Crytek would stop doing such bad and "overly-professional" community management in reguards to multiplayer fixes and etc. Multi is a mess and what do they do? Develop a map-pack for it, which is something that most people really despise (but it is garunteed to make a quick buck). It also completely shafts any hope for an editor, which is what made Crysis 1 so strong. Their response to issues has been almost non-exsistant and haven't really helped at all, while still putting that stupidly obvious "overly-business" like approach in responses as if I'm playing a game from a company made of lawyers. I wouldn't mind it so much if I was actually seeing results, but were not and we're not even getting any glimpse into anything that suggests a result has any real progress. The whole thing reeks of complete shit post-release support for a game that sadly needs a lot of small fixes to make it really shine.
I prefer to remember the part of Crysis 1 without the aliens. That is what I base my opinions on and that part takes a huge steaming shit on Crysis 2's graphics, gameplay, story and overall quality. The part with the aliens seems rushed and your viable options are nearly cut in half due to the nature of the aliens.
You have slighlty more X axis space in Crysis 1, but in Crysis 2 you have A LOT MORE Y axis space.
What are you on?
Hello I just had a quick question about the status of Crysis 2. Is the multiplayer fixed yet?
Screenshots from first DLC - Retaliation Pack, which includes 4 multiplayer maps: http://www.thetechgame.com/News/sid=1562/crysis-2-retaliation-map-pack-leaked.html Definitely not worth 10$/800 MSP for 4 maps in my opinion.
ahahahahahahaha I'm not being elitist (except I am) but this is what console development does to developers it happened to infinity ward and you bet it's happening to crytek too [editline]20th April 2011[/editline] what a waste of money singleplayer was really good but I barely had any compulsion to play multiplayer even when it was working, and I have even less compulsion to do so now they're milking it I should've preordered portal 2 instead.
oh boo fucking hoo nobody's forcing you to buy it
Play for 30 minutes, obvious hacker shows up. Le sigh. Atleast my stuff saves now.
Has the game been patched?
Initial thoughts after about 20 minutes, it seems okay. Though the cutscene about prophet was pretty terrible and pretty terrible looking. The suit seems kinda shit though, but the music is pretty cool. During the titles at the start I saw 'Hans Zimmer' and thought 'dis gon be gud'
To be honest the existing multiplayer maps are enough for me, so I don't need a mappack.
My gosh, that's what I said from the start.. Why would they go from these creepy floating squids to these things with arms and legs just like us?
They're Naked Aliens with armor and weapons. Metal things were vehicles.
They're Naked Aliens with armor and weapons. Metal things were vehicles.
Yeah, but they're red now. I can understand if they're doing some invasion phase.. like the blue squids were for infiltrating and these red humanoid things are for combat.. but still, they completely got rid of the creep squids that float around. The aliens are like a whole new specie or something. I don't like that.
What are you on?
Fuck that its not hard to understand. Crysis 1 u had more HORIZONTAL ROOM (X-AXIS HURR), Crysis 2 you have much much more Vertical space (Y-AXIS DUH) to move about in. idiot cant even do 7th grade maths

Park Avenue - SP map, different time of day Shipyard - this one looks at least slightly promising, has a nice atmosphere but essentially nothing new Transit - bland as hell in it's current form CoD map packs at least usually introduce some new themes but this one is a compilation of slightly altered SP maps. Totally not worth it

Crysis 1 multiplayer was bugged and cheat infested, what did they do? Make a quick Expansion with a completely new multiplayer and fuck up the whole game for Crysis 1 owners.
If the map pack comes out and they haven't fixed the multiplayer or added in any special PC options, Crytek can... well, guess.
Have more of your monay? [editline]21st April 2011[/editline] I've read the first chapter of Crysis: Legion, and it's so far better than Crysis 2, in my opinion.
What about depth?
crysis 2 has no depth
crysis 2 has no depth
Subway tunnels, the alien crashsite, etc.
Subway tunnels, the alien crashsite, etc.
No man, that's Height, you know, Y axel, we're talking about Z axel.
Subway tunnels, the alien crashsite, etc.
There.
