yeah, the lighting is nicer but there are loads of mods that do that on the PC too
yeah, the lighting is nicer but there are loads of mods that do that on the PC too
Natural Mod 2.02 and Extreme Immersion Mod are pretty damn glorious.
The levels seem somewhat rebuilt - there are a fair few differences between the screenshots, graphics aside. Also, the lighting looks a lot better. Global illumination, remember? The first screenshot seems to have excessive colour grading on the console version, though.

I'm fairly convinced that Crysis 1 on PC with a good TOD tweak will equal or better the console version by a fair margin, but it's hard to say. Say what you want about Crysis 2 the game, but the improved engine is quite nice.
Personally, I find the new engine to be a bitch to work with. The Sandbox 2 Editor just feels less sluggish. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I much prefer it to the Sandbox 3 Editor.
the 360 shot looks slightly better then the PC shot.
I also would like to see Crysis 1 on CryEngine 3.
It's right there, on consoles.
I think he ment on PC.
One addition from Crysis 2's I wouldn't mind in Crysis 1, is that silencers don't make you decloak right away, I loved that in Crysis 2. Also, are there any mods that put the Crysis Warhead particle effects in Crysis 1? And is there a way to play 64bit on the steam version?
Not sure if anyone's seen this in but in the forest scene earlier a Crytek dev forgot to turn on the foliage when he recorded the trailer :v: They made a new comparison at inCrysis: Lighting in the console version would be nearing perfection (for me) if the sky wasn't so bright.
Damn, console looks great. See? That's enough foliage.
It almost looks better.
Some textures looks better, like the weapons.
Some textures looks better, like the weapons.
Yeah, the weapons diffidently have been improved.
No offence, but I can't believe anyone thinking the console version looks better; some lighting tweaks don't make up for the much lower polycount and the gimped textures. Don't get me wrong it still looks phenomenal for a console game.
Which gimped textures? It's not like the PC version of Crysis had high-quality textures to begin with, after all.
Which gimped textures? It's not like the PC version of Crysis had high-quality textures to begin with, after all.
I was about to give specific examples, but then I realised practically everything in that comparison pic shows it.
Which gimped textures? It's not like the PC version of Crysis had high-quality textures to begin with, after all.
They are high quality compared to the ones in Crysis 2.

They obviously went in and redid them. The shotgun model diffidently isn't as good as the PC version though. I can see more edges where there are less polys.
I gotta say even if Crysis 2 was not as fun to play as Crysis 1 it definitely had much more epic story. Especially when the marines got involved in the battle. And even if the colonels speeches was a bit cheesy they were still epic. [editline]16th September 2011[/editline] And the music!
I really dislike the color correction in the console version. It looks to bleak and blue for a tropical island. Crysis 1 just looked very natural.

Oh god some of the comments on the Crysis Announcement trailer video on Machinima are hard to read.

The PC version might be lacking the black shadows and the superbright sky...but that's how real life looks.
The sky in the console version looks like they forgot to put a skybox, it's annoying at best.
The sky in the console version looks like they forgot to put a skybox, it's annoying at best.
I'm thinking that the Xbox 360 version is unable to display the volumetric clouds that the PC version did so they decided to cover it up with excessive bloom.

I honestly feel like no one knows what a sunny, cloudless day actually looks like :v:
