Dang, stomp has a long range.
It's really situational and risky though.

You guys think Crysis 2 will run fairly well on this machine considering I could run Crysis 1 pretty well?

Crysis 1 is generally slower than Crysis 2. You will play it great on a 460. The processor might cut some FPS at some times.

That is my PC almost exactly and I can run Crysis 2 at 1680x1050 with AA, DX11 and settings otherwise on high at a fairly steady framerate.

Easily. My PC runs Crysis 1 on Medium at 40fps and I can run Crysis 2 on High (lowest settings, but looks much, much better) at 30fps.

I loved the part with Korean soldier.
Also it's double XP weekend in Crysis 2, for all platforms.
Crysis will be released for XBLA October 4th.

also from what ive heard the level "Ascension" has been cut from it.
also from what ive heard the level "Ascension" has been cut from it.
Splitting it to two maps (forcing you to land somewhere) would have been a better idea.

Man, our console brothers are getting the rotten end of the stick here.
I enjoyed that level anyway...
I've never understood the gripe with the "Ascension" level. The first time I played it I had a bit of trouble as it's the first time you pilot a VTOL, but I've played the game four times since, and I've never had any issues with it after the first time. The only real fuckup of that level was that they threw you into something you'd never used before and expected you to do dogfighting.

My only problem with it was the tornadoes. Not because they were difficult to fly around, but because they made no fucking sense whatsoever.
I thought it was unnecessary.
Just had to share this. Could spoil the end though, so be advised!

It's batman.
Can someone jog my memory and tell me why the alien spore in the pod would kill the aliens?

The tornadoes are what bugged you about a game where you are a super soldier playing alongside Jason Statham wearing a suit that gives you ultimate power, speed and invisibility so that you can punch aliens to death while they try to take over an island they landed on millions of years ago and have a boss ship that looks like Duke Nukem's chin.
Am I getting that right?

Yeah, pretty much. Call me crazy :v:

They looked cool though.
Uh, it's a reverse engineered spore which destroys the alien ones (Cephs are mostly made out of that I think)
Cephs used the spores to make the area more habitable and cleaning it from infection (humans, etc.). Then that shit got turned against them, making it inhospitable to them (and started melting/liquefying them)-

I remember when I first played it it was buggy as shit, and nigh-impossible to get through. The patches have made it playable, but I still go straight for the exit because I'd honestly not fight the aliens in what is essentially a van with jet engines.
I think we can all say the best bet for completing Ascension is just rushing through the level dodging what you can.
Is Crysis 2 really as dumbed down for consoles as it's said?
Is Crysis 2 really as dumbed down for consoles as it's said?
Honestly, yes. The level of freedom is really toned down and all the weapons feel shit as controllers can't handle recoil.
Is Crysis 2 really as dumbed down for consoles as it's said?
In my opinion, no. Sure, there's less armor modes, and prone is gone - but the whole is a more tight experience. Crysis, in my opinion, felt like they had this whole cool gameplay idea but then just dropped you in a regular shooter, at least in the beginning. Crysis 2 feels more like it was entirely built around the suit.
Uh, it's a reverse engineered spore which destroys the alien ones (Cephs are mostly made out of that I think)
Why would they bring something that would kill them to our planet while they try to take over?
Why would they bring something that would kill them to our planet while they try to take over?
I haven't finished the game yet, but it sounds like the suit absorbed some of the spores during Prophet's time in battle. CryNet Systems (or maybe the army?) managed to reverse engineer the spore you brought in. They turned it into a weapon to use against the Ceph.
But I don't know. I'm just past the cutscene where they decide to just flood Manhattan, and I've entered the tower.
The suit absorbs the spore, works out how to "talk" to it, and reprograms it to attack the ceph instead of humans.
The spore looks more like a nanobot swarm to me, at least it makes more sense from the in game descriptions.
Edit: At the same time, the game makes liberal use of terms that are relatively meaningless, "nano protocols"? That just means really small protocols.
