I wonder how many are still online?
Servers are still populated. Obviously it's not the level of Bad Company 2, but it's not bad.
I'm currently reading "Legion". I really like how it expands on the game. You can actually read what Alcatraz was going through. Dude's got an attitude.
Yeah, personally I prefer Legion over the game.
Which reminds me, I should pick up Legion.
Is this game dirt cheap anywhere yet I actually kinda wanna pick it up, I had tons of fun fucking around in the beta
Almost a year after release. It's like 20 bucks.
Crysis 2 has by far one of the most fun SP campaigns I've played in recent memory. The multiplayer was very fun, but other than the nanosuit abilities it pretty much played like CoD, but that can only be expected from a console release. Bit of a let-down because C1's MP was a bit more ambitious.

[editline]22nd January 2012[/editline] If aliens hadn't taken a huge bite out of it that is.
So, I've read Legion and played through the game and I've still not got much clue what exactly the Ceph are. Do they really [sp]originate from Earth and just happened to wake up after Hargreave kicks their nest at Ling Shan, or are they essentially intergalactic nature observers as Hargreave says they are in Legion?[/sp]
[sp] I believe the term mostly used was gardener or even tools of the gardeners. Like the Ceph were lowest of the low on the whole alien master race scale. [/sp]

Oh hai this thread was brought back from the dead... I played a bit some time ago. Rocked that silenced sniper like a real sniper :v:
This game was pretty under appreciated at the time of release. Wasn't any more linear than crysis 1, but a lot of people assumed it was because of the change in setting and the fact it was on consoles too.

On the other hand, C2's multiplayer is alot more fun than CoD's IMO.
I hope Crysis 3 mixes the best of both games.
Crysis 2 was / is still a very fun game to play, SP wise there are very few FPS's that we're even half as fun / long last year. The linerarity did spoil the game greatly though, when it gave you missions like Get from A to B i really wanted to go my own way, litterally take my own route through new york (obviously within reason), considering how old crysis 1 was / is and the sheer scale of things acomplished in that game, asking for an entirely accesable new york was not that outrageous. It is still an excellent game, just so much more could have been acheived.

There were tons of ways to handle any given situation
"Crysis 2 Intro" This is really menacing in a way, but sounds so good.
SP gameplay was nothing like call of duty, what are you talking about? There were tons of ways to handle any given situation
You have to be joking. Compare the size of the maps and how much liberty you had with crysis 1 and then compare crysis 2 with cod and you can see it perfectly. Even the multiplayer, that went from vehicles and people in a huge arena to a fight yard. Even the class system is the same as in CoD. And you didn't have tons of ways to handle a situation. You had less than crysis 1 FOR SURE. Example, in crysis 1, you could come from like 4 different places in almost every situation and you could even get lost in a map. In crysis 2, you have ONE and only ONE path. Maybe 2 rarely, but mostly one and only one path.
There was the underpass part with the APC you could choose which lane you drove in. Freeroam-as-long-as-you-go-where-we-tell-you.

Power Struggle was an interesting concept to be sure, but when it came down to it the maps were just too damn big with not nearly enough players for a Battlefield-esque dynamic. Shit I played games on a 100+ player server and the map still felt like a ghost town. The only times where I really thought 'holy shit this is awesome, I'm in battlefield of the future' were in the odd curb-stomp game where one team utterly dominated the other and everyone fought outside the gates of one team's base. Frantic? Yes. Fun? Yes until one guy decides to bring in the thermonuclear artillery. Otherwise the MP to me mostly felt like just running aimlessly towards point A and if you're lucky you might run into an enemy on the way there, or if you were unlucky you'd get blown up by a passing flyboy or sniped by a guy on the other opposite end of the map. I much prefer Crysis 2's MP not only because I think the nanosuit and its the modules add a great gameplay dynamic to it (even if 90% of those you'll end up fighting fit the invisible bastard archetype), but also because the smaller map layouts mean that - like it or not - you will be forced into a face-to-face confrontation and you are going to need to be prepared for it. I'm also not too sad that vehicles are gone; VTOL aces are an absolute nightmare to take down and I've seen many instances where they can and do eliminate entire teams; and don't even get me started on the spawnrape. That said I do hope to see less kowtowing to common modern FPS tropes in the inevitable third release, and much more expanded SP environments.

The only difference is the space between the set pieces is more linear, but what would you expect in NYC?

I like the music which plays in the background of this trailer.
I recently took it upon myself to go back and complete all of the 70 steam games I never finished, Crysis 2 was the second game I got to and did it in one sitting, absolute blast.

I actually knew nothing about the official soundtrack as I my knowledge was limited only to the music you unlock throughout the game.

has anyone found a way to force an anti aliasing method in crysis 2 that actually smooths all the edges? SMAA and FXAA injectors work but they both look like shit and not really much better than the original MSAA also i have an AMD card so i can't do that nvidia inspector sgssaa method
