Minecraft threads have more drama in them than the USA network.

My overlay and world sometimes disappear, has happened since the free weekend. Any ideas? Minimizing, Fast/Fancy, All fog settings, Fullscreen, Deleting .minecraft folder, redownloading, updating java, updataing video drivers doesn't help
Oh and when the stuff disappears it can be just the overlay, just the world, and both. It also usually lags and puts me down from 60fps to around 3fps.

There's not too much you can do. It's probably something with your drivers that Minecraft doesn't like playing nice with. Sounds like it's just taking its sweet time to load chunks and whatnot.
