I didn't mean any offense, and I rated it artistic. If you made the interior walls out of log, the leaves are going to stay anyways.
Didn't someone ask for drama before? Here it is already.

I used to have two of those. I've managed to give away nearly half of it.

It's the principle of the thing, man.

Oh, that's just mean.
Is there any one resource you measure your wealth in? I would say Gold, but I only have 10 bars at the moment. I suppose Coal makes sense, since you are extremely limited without it.
Is there any one resource you measure your wealth in? I would say Gold, but I only have 10 bars at the moment. Rather, one should measure one's wealth in the sum total of all gathered ores, not just gold i.e. coal, iron, gold, diamond and redstone.
Might aswell repost this for the new thread.

I only said Gold because of Gold Standard.
Yeah, accumulated total ores is pretty straightforward.

OY, a release! Thanks a lot, I've been waiting!
Inspector Jones, I do measure my wealth in iron. I've got tons of coal, and don't even need so much, after I made around 200 torches. Iron is way more rare, and still necessary for the pickaxes or minecart tracks. Redstone is abundant, too, and diamond, well...if this was the ore for measure, pretty much everyone would be a poor man.
i measure my wealth in diamonds

All the cool people trade in cacti.
Okay so I was playing and I looked over at my house..

Fucking cows
Odd, I've got over 100 Iron, and only 30 Coal left and dropping fast. I've always got something smelting in my furnaces, usually sand and cobblestone.
I'd still argue that Coal is a good measurement, since it's basically fuel in Minecraft.
I read in Notch's Blog that he "frowns upon" addons that are helpful to myself, like AUTOCART and hey0's server mod.
This better not mean he's going to do something to force me to build on MY server the hard way again.
(yes this sounds like a "waaaaaaaahhhh" statement. It will be if it happens. And I don't think I'll be alone)
Still, working minecarts in SMP. I nearly pissed my pants when I read that. Since working minecarts are crucial to my inter-map tram idea in my server.

any tips or suggestions?
Good luck, man. Maybe make some scaffolding (out of dirt) and maybe a small crafting square and furnace with it, to make it easier to build. And maybe lava engines with glass baffles, as a suggestion.

In that case I'm filthy rich, I found an enormous cave system a few days ago, packed with coal everywhere, along with lots of other ores.
Also, wood works just as well in furnaces and trees are everywhere.

i was gonna use portals as engines for the glowing and the shit flying out but lava works too
also i'm gonna be building it pretty close to my base so when i come outside i can feast my eyes on my beautiful flagship
so i'm not gonna need any on-site furnaces

I forgot you can use wood to fuel furnaces...I may have to start a massive deforestation campaign to save my black gold.

Thinking about that ship floating above the ground makes me glad there aren't any flying creepers (I know there's ghasts, but we don't see packs of them flying around the normal world)

Nah I'd agree, that whole thing seems very silly. It's a community doing shit for him and here he is getting a sore bum because, what, he didn't do it? And? You can say what you want about it being his project- okay, sure, it is. But you make a game in an easy language to fuck with open before you've finished it and you're basically asking for one of two things- the Cortex Command "somebody make content to propel this shit" reaction, or the generic demo "It'll be done when it's done and this is a sample" reaction. The former builds a fanbase. The latter builds anticipation and hype for a real release, but nothing else. Throw in the fact that he said if he ever got bored of it he'd make it open source and it's pretty easy to see why he has a bazillion kiddies creaming their modding jeans.
Basically yeah unprofessional as hell to reap all the benefits of people creating content and then bitch once he's a bit better established that he doesn't like it.

That's not the reason it's frowned upon.
The reason it's frowned upon is that it fucks up SMP, either by sending and requesting garbage data from the server, or giving unfair advantages to the players. (Autocart, Minimap, etc)
He also dislikes the mods that bundle content from minecraft, or make a whole alternative client, due to the legal greyness of it. I don't think he's getting pissy about people beating him to new features like some people suggested.
If he blocks Autocart and some other mods, I may just forget about minecraft and move onto something else. These thirdparty mods allow me to play how i want, which is usually for the purpose of filming or videos, not gameplay.
I don't think Notch would do that though, I think he understands how powerful his community is. I think he's just talking about tricky mods that complicate coding and SMP. I'd be fine with him developing a system for Multiplayer servers to simply turn off your mods if you join, but specifically doing something to make them not work would really piss me off.
Edit: Oh , I guess someone said something like this before.
Minecraft thread is almost dying.. What's going on guys? :derp:

That shouldn't be happening, surely it is the server that should be handling the physical location and momentum of things?
