Yeah it works with the new worlds. Oh well, my plan to this point is to make a base right on the spawn on my new worldand mine until find iron and stock up on torches.
Next, make a compass and head north and explore; enjoying the biomes and running from creepers.

You should be able to go through the add/remove programs dialog in the control panel to uninstall it.
