I think the random chunks are generated because the map tries to find a spawn point for the player, but the whole zone is water/air, so you can't spawn there, and relocate to another zone, where the process goes on and on and on until it has found a proper spawn point.

maybe the tunnel in profans server that shortens you travel time to from spawn to crampture from 15, to around 3 minutes (once minecarts are fixed)

You might also notice that these forums have a unique rating system.
It is an awesome tool to show how you feel about a post without actually replying to that person. Just don't go rating bombing.

We're generally a better community than the Minecraft forums but don't get your hopes up too much. We've still got our fair share of trolls and assholes.
