Most of the time it's the server that's outdated, but you can try to download the minecraft client yourself too see if it is that.

Once SMP is fixed, mine will be more active. The bugs have pretty much killed most servers for now though.

Hmm...
Some things I can think of that might be causing it is video drivers.
corrupted download.
Virus/malware.
Maybe something with .net?
I wish Notch would make high speed minecarts kill mobs, or at least smack them out of the way. It's incredibly annoying to have to build giant walls around my outdoors track sections to prevent a derp-pig from walking onto the tracks while the carts are looping.

Is anyone else experiencing an odd glitch with iron where on occasion when you mine a block of iron ore, you get the block instead of the iron you're supposed to get?
I was making 3 cities to connect with portals, one was a military-heavy city, with walls and outposts. Another was a peaceful, forest, environmental city with plenty of wood buildings and trees, as well as a chapel. The other was planned to be a mining/dwarf city. I was trying to find the forest village after using the portal from the dwarf one, as the portal I made in the forest city always brought me to the portal I made in hell connecting to the dwarf city. I was taking down that portal to destroy that city, as it only had one building and the forest building, 4, but now I am lost in the wilderness trying to find the portal city. I think the only sensible thing to do is to make another city and another portal.
Any ideas what this city should be themed? I was thinking a floating city on water, made entirely with logs and planks. Any other ideas?

On second thought this only semi-fixed it.
Only the in-browser game works and if i mod the game in any way it just crashes firefox and java.
But i do have it running, so the next step is to uninstall IZ3d and java and do a fresh install of java and see what happens.

So if anybody else has the same problem uninstall IZ3D not just disable stereo.
