The gameplay vids I saw weren't that good, the real time combat seems neh compared to VATS. And I don't like the crabby/scorpiony things. D:
The graphics don't look that good at all.
They aren't what i hoped. And before anyone says "NUCLEAR WASTELAND NO COLORS LOL" they could make it look a lot better than that. It looks cartoony.
I want to run around in rubber duck shoes and a Scooba Steve mask with clown pants and no shirt.
ntm gta4 is coming out mid next year... not next month...
ntm gta4 is coming out mid next year... not next month...
mid next year? have you been living under a rock? november 21st
I want to run around in rubber duck shoes and a Scooba Steve mask with clown pants and no shirt.
Hmm. The Raider Sadist Armour looks almost as ridiculous as that. I want Burke and Sheriff Simm's hats, a Tommy Gun (hopefully it's going to have survived Fallout 2) and a nice suit, so I can play a little game: every day, I change hats. Whenever I'm wearing Burke's hat, I'll do nothing but bad deeds, no matter what the consequences and if I'm wearing the Sheriff's hat, nothing but good deeds.
Also, list of weapons you can invent with the blueprints and materials: Rock-It Launcher - Launches physics objects at high velocity (damage is proportionate to weight). Contrary to the E3 Demo and much fan rage, you will find exploding raiders with a teddy bear very difficult. Rail Roader - It fires railway track spikes (making an annoying steam train sound when it loads another spike). Critical kills on a specific body part will tear it off and nail it to a hard surface behind it. Probably going to be an excellent improvised armour piercing weapon. Lunchbox Mine - A proximity IED made using a lunchbox, explosives and bottlecaps (also your currency - build these things if you have lots of money and aren't sure what to do with it). Most likely to be a good weapon for preventing light or unarmoured targets from closing in to deal melee damage. Flaming Sword - Not sure about this one. Bethesda may have had the sense to have this one cut, but if they haven't, it's exactly how it sounds: a sword which is either on fire or uses a battery to generate massive amounts of heat in the blade. I'm banking on it being a joke weapon which the developers must have mentioned in order to get the hardcore 'Fallout 3 = Oblivion with Guns' believers raged. The Fatman - Chucks nukes. Breaks games. Good for weakling Science specialists who creatures like the Behemoth would usually eat for breakfast.
Will add to the OP.
Will the OP need information on what each attribute skill does for Fallout 3? My copy of PC Gamer US has descriptions for both the S.P.E.C.I.A.L attributes and Skills.
Yeah, I'd love to have the info.
Some perks and skills are wrong. Throwing and Outdoorsman were taken out, throwing was mixed into explosives. No rocks to throw boys, but that's what the rock-it launcher is for. Gun Nut lets you repair and maintain a large variety of small arms, and adds 5 points to your small arms + repair skills every time you level up. First Aid and Medicine were rolled into one, medicine. No more first aid, they are the same thing now. Hope you improve on your information, OP.
Cool, new thread!
you forgot that they built a city around a bomb that didn't get set off. :v: well atleast that's what i heard. there's a mission to blow up the city.
that was in the gameplay videos in the OP
ah, i didn't watch any of the videos :O
I'm gonna play Fallout 1 soon, already have 2 but wanted to wait until I play the first one. Is that a good idea?
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. : The Fallout Attribute System. Strength - A measure of your raw physical power. It affects how much you can carry and the effectiveness of all melee attacks. Perception - A high Perception grants a bonus to the Explosives, Lockpick and Energy Weapons skills and determines how far away you can spot threats. Endurance - A measure of your overall physical fitness. A high Endurance gives bonuses to health, environmental resistances (poison, radiation, fire) and the Big Guns and Unarmed skills. Charisma - A high Charisma will improve peoples' disposition towards you and give bonuses to the Barter and Speech skills. Intelligence - Affects the Science, Repair and Medicine skills. The higher up your Intelligence, the more Skill Points you'll be able to distribute when you level up. Agility - Affects your Small Guns and Sneak skills and the number of Action Points available for VATS. Luck - Raising your luck will raise all of your skills a little. Having a high Luck will also improve your critical chance with all weapons. Skills: Doctor, First Aid, Outdoorsman, Gamble and Throwing have been removed; Sneak and Steal have been merged. Barter - Affects buying and selling prices for items. Big Guns - Determines your effectiveness with all oversized weapons, such as the Fat Man, Missiles Launcher, Flamer, Minigun and Gatling Laser. Energy Weapons: Determines your effectiveness with weapons which use laser and plasma instead of conventional projectiles. Explosives - Determines the power of mines you set and ease of disarming hostile mines; determines effectiveness of all non-launched explosives you use. Lockpick - Used to open locked doors and containers. You can't even attempt to pick hard locks if you have a low skill level. () Medicine: Determines how much HP you replenish using Stimpacks and the effectiveness of radiation treating drugs. Melee Weapons - Determines your effectiveness with melee weapons. Repair - Allows you to maintain weapons and armour; affects the starting condition of custom-made weapons. Science - Primarily used to hack restricted computer terminals. Small Guns - Determines effectiveness with conventional-projectile-using small arms. Sneak: Makes it easier to remain undected, steal items and pick pockets. Attacking while undetected grants a garunteed critical hit. Speech - Does not open up new speech options. Instead, it affects certain dialogue choices where your Speech skill affects whether you can successfully get information or increased rewards out of NPCs. Unarmed - Surprisingly, this hasn't been dropped. Kicks have been removed, meaning you fight with your fists (and the few weapons designed to augment it, from Brass Knuckles to the Power Fist).
Thanks Fadeaway for the additional info.
Can't wait.
:words:
well aslong has the lock picking isn't like oblivion :v: where i could pick a very hard lock and be level 1 and with only 5 lock picking skill.
I'm gonna play Fallout 1 soon, already have 2 but wanted to wait until I play the first one. Is that a good idea?
I played Fallout 2 and I think it's better. The learning curve and starting equipment may be a little strict, but that's how it should be. Once you work your way up past the early stages of the game, you'll find that it becomes much easier. Edit:
well aslong has the lock picking isn't like oblivion :v: where i could pick a very hard lock and be level 1 and with only 5 lock picking skill.
Thankfully, it isn't.
Man this game is going to be awesome. I want to be a guy who specialises in science, medicine and something else probable laser weapons. Also the fatman isn't a buildable weapon like the rock-it launcher
Oh, have we seen anything of the other populated cities apart from concept art? Rivet City in particular: after all, it's supposed to be inside and on an aircraft carrier.
Have we got anything on the system requirements yet?
Ammo is supposedly rare. However if it is like Oblivion and like the gameplay videos. It will be easy to find people with guns. Also you need water according to the video.
This game is gonna be one of the best games of '08. Also, they speak of prostitution in the game, eh? My best guess is that sex would give stat boosts and XP. But one thing that would be funny would be if you could shift some of your accumulated radiation out of you when you sex in Fallout 3 as well. It'd be useful and hilarious.
I'm trying not to be too hyped up for this game. It looks really fun, but there's always that chance that it could suck balls. Also, I caught that DMB reference in the OP.
Is fallout 3 going to be anything like Oblivion? Aka Modding community, side quests, etc.
I'm trying not to be too hyped up for this game. It looks really fun, but there's always that chance that it could suck balls. Also, I caught that DMB reference in the OP.
What's DMB? I may have made one, I just can't remember what DMB is :( Edit: I did make one to Half-Life 2 though. Edit:
Is fallout 3 going to be anything like Oblivion? Aka Modding community, side quests, etc.
People call it "Oblivion it guns", but I'd call it more like a "RPG with guns". Only think I've found the same is the game engine and the voice actors. Edit: Oh and those mudcrabs. But they're mutants now, so it doesn't count.

There are only like 5(or two if you only count the people.)
Is fallout 3 going to be anything like Oblivion? Aka Modding community, side quests, etc.
It's built on the same modified engine, so I'd think so.
Who else is getting the collector's edition? I am. I'll be indulging myself to the little Vault Boy bobble head.
Awesome, I'll be getting that lunchbox.
