How is anyone excited for this game? I've never played Fallout 1 and 2 and even I can tell it's gonna be shit because Bethesta can't make an atmosphere or hire good voice actors for shit.
They have the palette down for it, but that's as easy in a post-apocalyptic video game as colouring by the numbers.
At least they've obviously put the work in.

I wouldn't say that Fallout had an excellent atmosphere, but I did like the ending clip where he walks away to the desert.
I'm pretty sure I'm angering a load of Fallout fans right now...
Edit:
I do agree on the voice actor part. They did mess up there.
Don't worry about criticising the atmosphere, the early Fallouts did the job of capturing a gritty, post nuclear world just fine, but what ruined the atmosphere of it was the same old environments and people wherever I went. All that set them apart was moving the mouse over them (though they often had interesting things to say, even the generic citizens).
Very little of it took place in readily recognisable places as well. San Francisco in Fallout 2 was just part of the Golden Gate Bridge and New Reno had the sign. Bethesda have actually gone out of their way not only to model the Capitol, but update it according to what the Fallout universe might have been like in reality.
That's not to say the old games are shit when it comes to atmosphere: when I heard how SF was reclaimed by the crew of a Chinese nuclear submarine, I actually put into my head the image of it submerging near the Golden Gate Bridge as the nuclear flashpoints got closer, then finally surfacing years later to the same cityscape in ruins.
3d graphics are good for authenticity, but they don't leave much to the imagination.
I won't use that dog with a retarded name. Better be alone.
About that...
DogMeat has to be in your party once you can use him. You can't kill him however, you can abuse the shit out of him though.
Trust me you want him. You can tell him to stay by a bunch of stim-paks and whenever you need some, call on him and he'll bring them to you.

I'm very excited for this game. I also love Oblivion, its one of my most played games even now.
I know they have their faults, but on the whole I'm a big fan of Bethesda, and I think Fallout 3 is going to be my game of the year.

He doesn't have to be with you at all times. Bethesda have stated that he can die, but a less permanent choice is asking him to wait at Vault 101 like a good dog.

He can eat my enemies/rip them apart? :v:

I really, really want that to be an option for when I'm done wasting bad guys. That way I don't have to waste stimpacks on him.
Speaking of which, are we going to be able to heal other NPCs?

you can give your party members stimpacks, don't think you will be able to directly heal anyone though because the option is through the pb3000
Damn. And real time is much more convenient for tending to wounded, non-party NPCs.
I hope Medicine allows for that because it sounds like other NPCs are going to be getting more involved in the fighting.

yes
plus this adds to the Medic character
Considering the nature of most of his weapons, I think the Medic ought to have Energy Weapons as his main weapon skill. He's an intelligent character and the Blutsauger / Medigun both have that unconventional look.
Can't wait for this game, finally a RPG with guns.
Also, you can play the original Fallout for free if you have a GameTap-account.
There was Vampire The Masquerade:Bloodlines
and Deus Ex along with System Shock 2.
Bioshock and Stalker are more PseudoRPG's
I'm just gonna use a assault rifle and a minigun for backup, and my melee will either be a baseball bat or power fist, maybe the flaming sword.

STALKER aswell, not really have fully fledged RPG though.
My main weapon will be the flamethrower, but sometimes I'll use the bolt-action for scouting an area out.
My melee will be a good old sledgehammer.
Now that I think about it, I will use a normal bolt action sometimes.

I'm gonna see how far I can get just using it as my main weapon.
It would be cool if you could upgrade it a little.

Sniper and two pistols (machine and magnum) and a melee of my choosing.
also all bad karma
Edit:
also i'm tagging small guns, science, and whatever else i want
maybe melee
Edit:
or stealth
I can't decide how I'm going to play my first time through. I'll definitely play the general all-round asshole, but I'll need to see what's available to me in the early stages to figure out my play style.
First thing i am going to do:Steal the Sheriff's Hat
Second:Steal Burke's hat
After that i will go around the Wasteland like "The Hat Thief" and i steal every hat i want.
And if the person resist, Dogmeat will take care of it.
The only bad side is that if Dogmeat gets my hat, it will probably have blood on it. :<
Dogmeat with POWERJAWS= Awesome. I want it D:.
Anyway DAMN YOU GMODPANDA stole my idea. Fine I'll go stealing guns then, and make a big gun pile somewhere.
I'll go for the minigun and the laser rifle, and the trusty powerfist as my backup melee. Maybe with the power armours.

In Morrowind i started a habit of every time that i'd kill someone, i'd take their pants, and only their pants until i could carry no more.
Then i'd go to be "house" and fill it up with pants.
I was the PantsBandit.
You made my day, mysteryman.
:excited:
I also recall something about cleaning your weapons? or was that a different game, if not, how will it play out? a little minigame with a cloth? :v:

Just keep rubbing that barrel.
:q:
You have to repair it, or it'll wear down :(
I'm going to steal bodies and make a pile then take a bath in it
yum
It's too bad you can only have one ally with you at a time. In Fallout 2 I always assembled a dream team consisting of Marcus, Cassidy, Sulik, and Skynet/Deathclaw Scholar/Dogmeat/K-9, using the Magnetic personality perk to create a small mob.
Micromanaging your teams to have them not burst fire the shit out of you or any other allies was nice, and when properly equipped, they killed the final boss within 2-3 rounds.
Hey not sure if you guys already know but i just found out the release date for Australia is the 31st of October.
