:tizzy: No fair! Who wouldn't want this guy's hat right from the get go? It's worth the trip to jail, I honestly believe.
There is NO trip to jail if you own a POWER FIST! Buy it now! :3:
Damn i hate those guys. It would be cool if you could nuke a city, then the essentials are outside of the city with some shitty history about how he is alive. :v:
Agreed, it would be funny to just see them strolling outside, you run up to the and ask how they got there, and they respond they have no idea in hell but they'll just go with it.
I'd rather have the Morrowind kind of "You've killed a character related to <quest>, you may no longer complete it." Maybe a bit modified, but practically the same.
I'd rather have the Morrowind kind of "You've killed a character related to <quest>, you may no longer complete it." Maybe a bit modified, but practically the same.
Yeah, I liked that message when you killed essential characters in Morrowind. It let you do what you want and still warn you that you broke it.
There is NO trip to jail if you own a POWER FIST! Buy it now! :3:
I have to ask, what's with you and :3:?
For the vital characters, I think it would be best to have an option to make them invincible or killable. I prefer the invincibility sometimes, but then again sometimes I need to kill someone.
Yeah, like the megaton mission. If you're impatient to let off the nuke but still want missions from that town, set it to invincible. If you want a more death-is-final approach, make them killable. I personally like to get everything I can out of the game so making them invincible is OK for me, so I can do as many missions as I need to.
Maybe Fallout 4 will be about the people who survived the Megaton nuke
Maybe Fallout 4 will be about the people who survived the Megaton nuke
That sounds more of a job for Ron Perlman's deep and manly voice at the ending(s) of Fallout 3. None of the games have focused specifically upon one group of people. There's no harm in having them get a mention in the next games, though (and as Betheda's first, 3 is probably going to get a lot of mentions in 4).
Maybe Fallout 4 will be about the people who survived the Megaton nuke
Well, seems like a big event. I think that you don't have to destroy the town. I guess you can do jobs with that lady, or maybe viglante work for the Sheriff.
Alright, just preordered this along with Farcry 2, now to wait the long wait...
I am going to beat Tactics in honor of this game. Edit:
I'd rather have the Morrowind kind of "You've killed a character related to <quest>, you may no longer complete it." Maybe a bit modified, but practically the same.
Why in the last two fallouts you can beat the game even if you kill all the NPCs.
It was a joke
It was a joke
It sounds more like a good idea. If you kill an essential, you should be informed whether that death might prevent you from finishing the game itself.
It sounds more like a good idea. If you kill an essential, you should be informed whether that death might prevent you from finishing the game itself.
No not that one
Some kind of LAN multiplay would be awesome.
I remember reading that allies in your party (Except for Dogmeat) are invincible. This was a long time ago, do you think they changed it since then?
I remember reading that allies in your party (Except for Dogmeat) are invincible. This was a long time ago, do you think they changed it since then?
Yes. It's on the OP.
Looks awesome, can't wait much longer!!!
I for one would like to keep this thread alive. Fallout 3 may not be what I want or hope it's going to be, but it's probably going to be worth the £30 price tag right off the bat. My contribution: the Fallout 3 main theme. Personally, I like the theme. It isn't trying to wave it's dick in your face as if it's going GRAWRGH I AM A FLAGSHIP GAME FOR THE NEXT-GEN YOU WORTHLESS PEASANTS.
OP sez: It seems a bit too unbalanced to fit in the game
It's probably a high level perk, like 15-20. Further contribution to the OP, the Karma system is simple: you have a number which goes up and down based on whether your actions (this is important: in some cases, you can go back on your word or not do anything at all, meaning it would be pointless to give Karma in advance). Nuking Megaton would naturally constitute a heavy Karma blow, as would killing innocent civilians or attacking a child. Reporting Burke to the Sheriff, killing monsters and doing generally good deeds gives you plus Karma. In Oblivion terms, it's Fame / Infamy, only it's a single scale which can be tipped in either direction by what you do. Karma is strictly under the hood. In fact, you never see the numbers on screen (it'll simply indicate you've gained or lost Karma). This affects the game world and peoples' reactions to you. Positive Karma will make more sinister characters like you less, while negative Karma will do the same for good citizens. It also determines which companions you will be able to pick. You also gain titles depending on your Karma (a good way of keeping track of how far gone you are in either direction).
Cool, wait, what is NEUTRAL Karma them? I don't think i understand this right. I think Main Theme is awesome.
By the way, the thing about your standing with certain factions (which can be anything from small camps to large cities and organisations within them) is Reputation. Edit:
Cool, wait, what is NEUTRAL Karma them? I don't think i understand this right. I think Main Theme is awesome.
That one's difficult. Neutral is something which has rarely been covered, but in Megaton's case, it would be agreeing to take the detonator off Burke's hands, then leaving Megaton without using it. In other words, neutral is kept either by doing nothing or balancing the two.
So Fade, you finally decided you're going to get Fallout after all? Edit:
By the way, the thing about your standing with certain factions (which can be anything from small camps to large cities and organisations within them) is Reputation. So I believe there will also be neutral decisions, like choosing to stay out of a feud, or by hindering both sides, etc. Edit:
I remember reading that allies in your party (Except for Dogmeat) are invincible. This was a long time ago, do you think they changed it since then?
Is this true? Shit sucks.
Are you kidding, I'd rather have Dogmeat invincible and the rest can go die.
Is the dog invencible or something? Or the dog can die? :< If he can die,i see myself reloading saves a LOT of times to keep it alive.
According to OP, Dogmeat is (sadly) killable, as in all the other games. Which can result in alot of reloaded saves for Dogmeat fans. I didn't see anything in OP about human party members being killable. It all depends on how many NPCs are recruitable in the game world.
So Fade, you finally decided you're going to get Fallout after all?
Well, why not? Looking back, Oblivion wasn't exactly bad for me; I played it for months with different characters. It just wasn't what I was expecting and it disappointed me as an RPG with the uninspired locations, level scaling and lack of any real consequence to your actions. Besides, I don't believe they make bad or even mediocre games, just ones that don't stand up to what they said they'd be. I also like some of the ideas, especially the home-made weapons. If anything, Fallout 3 is starting to remind me of what I wanted out of BioShock. Right now, the one thing stopping me is whether or not a Construction Set or any mods are going to be released for this. Edit: Shivering Isles is currently Bethesda's latest work and based on that, I think they've got the idea of mixing a story and an open world together. Edit: I shouldn't have to remind you all that Dogmeat is a killing machine, bred for killing. Kind of like the Killer Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: you don't think it's possible, but at the end of the day, there's going to be numerous dead raiders, on the ground, with their arms and legs several metres away from each other, with Dogmeat trotting back to your side like nothing happened. Also, I recall reading that you can send him out to bring you stuff like ammo, food and healing items. You lose him as a combat option for awhile, but he might come back with some goodies.
Dogmeat is The Adoring Fan reincarnated.
My contribution: the Fallout 3 main theme. That's just one of the licensed tracks they're using for the game. Check the main site, you'll find the main theme.
