I was introduced to gaming (on the Commodore 64, which I still have around someplace) by my parents when I was very young. During the 90's I occasionally play co-op Descent with my mother, accusing me of stealing all the power-ups (don't remember if she was too slow, or I was really selfish). I usually just dropped her at the exit before I triggered the reactor's explosion. Nowadays she rarely feels like playing Mario Kart on the Wii. Dad doesn't seem to like multiplayer (he also played Descent, but never felt like co-op). I don't see him gaming often but when I do it's usually the same ol' Serious Sam 2 (he never moves and shoots at the same time), TimeShift which I gave to his birthday at some point, or any Tomb Raider game. Sometimes when he sees me playing an arcady game it piques his interest, but he never gets around to playing any. Even when I introduced Portal to him he lost interest pretty quickly. He does like to watch me play games, though. Back when Jedi Academy was still new he always expressed interest in who characters were and all that. He just drinks his time away after work... I'll never forget him playing Wii Sports boxing in a bathrobe, though. That was hilarious.
My mothers spends a disturbing amount of time on facebook games (and she blames steam when we run out of bandwith quota!), and my dad plays tonnes of wii.
Did he say.... ?
i got my dad to play nightmare house 2 when he asked me if he could have a go on some of my games he swore rather loudly on many occasions
My dad enjoys racing games, not very simulator-like though.
My dad is semi-interested in TF2. Sometimes he watches me play, and he asks alot of questions. One time, he was like: "Watch out for that rocket!" I reflected it as a Pyro, killed the Soldier, and the Soldier apparently was a poor sport, he started cursing in chat for me being a "Noob Pyro" and left. My dad told me that that was really cool, and that kids need to calm down."
ITT: We admire OP's dad.
That's nothin', my dad played Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Show us a picture.
I`d have to ask him first. Also. My Dad plays on the Xbox 360 with my older Brother. He wishes he could use a mouse and keyboard though. I forgot to mention that he showed my Mother TF2. She said "Why is there a man eating a sandwich!" I fell over laughing. It`s a new inside joke that me and my Dad have.:lol:
This is my dad Steam ID : http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198020916065 He like COD2/4 too
My dad used to play NES games with my uncle back in the day... Then he played some CS 1.6 too but quit and hasn't touched video games since then.
My dad loves to play flight simulator games, although he hasn't been playing that many games since 2002 or so. He also likes The Sims, but as I said, he doesn't play anymore, but he supports gaming :D
Update: Was rather weird to be honest. Just after this topic, I go downstairs where my dad is watching TV, and the COD: Blackops advert comes on. He watchs it and is like; Dad: That looks good. Me: Yeah, I'm going to get it, so is [brother]. Dad: Is that the same series I used to play? Me: Yeah, you played the original COD. Dad: Oh right. Will it be difficult, like where you have to send in your men? (( This is in reference to Operation: Flashpoint, the latest one. He didn't like that as he had to control his soldiers, he just wants to shoot shit. xD)) Me: Nope. Dad: Cool, I'll pre-order it tomorrow. D'aaw.
Operation Flashpoint was the first game i ever played on the PC, actually it was the first thing i ever did on the PC.
my mum is a gamer, but all she plays is backgammon and bridge on some russian game server thing called "gambler" [editline]4th November 2010[/editline] my uncle plays cs and wow though [editline]4th November 2010[/editline] my dad played prince of persia and doom only
My mom plays Steam games. (Peggle etc.) She hates Facbook games, she was convinced after I showed her this. http://kotaku.com/5675176/woman-kills-baby-for-interrupting-farmville-session
I played cod waw with my dad. I realized that wasn't the best of games, because I did the American campaign with him and I had to explain what to do when a japanese runs at him, and I sounded really retarded.
My dad mostly plays linear games like the CoD series and sometimes the Unreal Tournament series. So he once tried fallout 3 got confused, then got lost, Killed everyone in the first town, Got lost AGAIN in some metro, then got lost again on the plains then he gave up because he didn't know what to do. I went on his save file that night, only to find out he had supidly low karma and was level 6. all in the space of 3 hours :saddowns:
My dad introduced me to Valve, Me and him play games together all the time. Rock Band, guitar Hero, Left 4 Dead/2, TF2. All the games we have we've played together. But he had another baby and we can't really play anymore :saddowns:
Just wait a few months, I'm sure the obsession over the baby will fade away and things will turn back to normal.
The only game my dad plays is "Let's Yell At Adam". He always wins. :sigh:
my dad plays turn based strategy (i got him into starcraft as well) but is too slow/doesn't care for other stuff. i tried getting him to play portal once. after maybe 30 minutes he still couldn't grasp the concept of portals, no matter how much i explained it to him. for at least half a minute i watched him run across the map he was on in a straight line from one portal to another, and i finally asked him "what are you doing" and he told me he was "following that girl". :V
My dad is the type of person who get dizzy when playing a FPS. :saddowns:
i get this myself a lot, actually. games like crysis and re5 give me intense nausea; it started happening with other games like bioshock ever since i stopped playing fpses regularly. i had found a fix for it with re5 but i forgot what i changed to make it playable.
Mah paw last played some fucking Disgaea. He quit before he even attempting to unlock the extra levels, shortly after he finished the game And to think he used to be a Diablo-and-Dungeon-Siege-clone fanatic. Good thing I managed to talk my sister into at least playing Portal. Bad thing is, she recites Still Alive at any time, and doesn't even get the melody right. She's in band and Choir, for God's sake!
Im so jealous over you guys with gaming dad/parents. My dad barely knows what a computer is. :saddowns:
I'll never forget when I became better than my dad at video games... He could never beat me once I had a decent sniper rifle on COD 1 and kept blaming the game for "being buggy" or me for "somehow moving faster than him"... **Nostalgia**
My dad always tells me about how he wasted his college years at the arcade, and I can never beat him at anything we play. He's a way bigger gamer than I am.
My dad used to play flight/boating simulators in 2005, he has never played anything since.
i let my dad play hl2 and he hit me w/ a crowbar
i let my dad play hl2 and he hit me w/ a crowbar
Lucky you. My dad forged a mace and fitted it with diamonds. When it hit my pale, young self, it did extra damage.
My Brother isn`t really interested in PC gaming, though he doesn`t really act like a stereotypical "Lol, u r pcfag" kind of person, he`s nice to me about PC gaming. :pcgaming:
My dad isn't a gamer, but he is a programmer. :buddy:
oh and my dad applied for Steam Build Manager or something at valve so :buddy:
Implying any one man is worthy enough to even LOOK at Gabe Newell!
