Catherine: A semi-sexualized anime game for 12-14 year olds.
uh, more like a mature rated game with sex themed cut scenes for 17+ year olds about the morals and problems of relationships.
implying anyone is going to take the game seriously and not play it because it has tits on the cover no actual adult is going to play a mediocre puzzle game to learn about relationships
implying anyone is going to take the game seriously and not play it because it has tits on the cover no actual adult is going to play a mediocre puzzle game to learn about relationships
Sure are projecting. Sorry you can't grasp that maybe people are interested in stories like this, and the fact Atlus games usually go off the deep end near the end which is always amusing to see.
implying anyone is going to take the game seriously and not play it because it has tits on the cover no actual adult is going to play a mediocre puzzle game to learn about relationships
I think this guy's right. Chick in the first image is hot. Gameplay looks mediocre. This is a recipe for a tweenie-oriented game.
implying anyone is going to take the game seriously and not play it because it has tits on the cover no actual adult is going to play a mediocre puzzle game to learn about relationships
well i doubt people are going to play through these pretty difficult puzzles just to get to a cut scene where all you see is them waking up after a night together. If they want something to fap to throw on Bayonneta on easy or DOA volleyball.
implying anyone is going to take the game seriously and not play it because it has tits on the cover no actual adult is going to play a mediocre puzzle game to learn about relationships
This is like saying people only read romance novels to beat off to them. I watched a few playthroughs, and after that first level the puzzles get really fucking intense just to watch, let alone play I'd imagine. Why do any games have stories, who's gonna play through the game just to get through the story? You're making no sense at all.
Deep Silver got the publishing rights for Europe and it should be hitting European shelves later this year.
-snip-
How come there's no demo on the European xbox marketplace?
Seems kind of like a weird game but I'm interested.
How come there's no demo on the European xbox marketplace?
it was just announced for pal territories http://whatculture.com/gaming/catherine-is-our-pal.php you guys have to wait a little bit longer :v:
"a mature game for mature people" makes you sound like a 10 year old saying "i'm mature so i'm not going to have fun with my friends instead i'm going to stay in and write an essay about how dust is made"
It was sarcasm. I cannot judge this game until I've played it. The premise sounds interesting. I think I'll rent it.
Yeah title was meant to be taken as a joke, as most people are holding the game up as THE MOST MATURE GAME EVER MADE. Off that topic though I'm a total sucker for this games music
holy fuck that soundtrack is awesome. They took awesome classical music and made it even better. glad i got to pre-order the edition that it comes with
Played the demo yesterday I'm not usually a big fan of Atlus' titles, but I am really digging this. The puzzle sequences are really intense, and the voice acting is actually pretty good. The character designs are also pretty good too.
I played the demo yesterday as well. It was certainly an interesting concept and I got some fun out of it, but I just don't think I'm willing to slap down full price on this game. I'll probably wait till it drops to around 30 or so before I buy.
also I seem to find Katherine a much better looking character than Catherine. Way to ruin the point of the game for me, devs.
Well they didn't show catherine's personality at all in the demo. Trailer doesn't reveal much either besides she's just a flirty girl. I also prefer katherine too (she's pretty cool, also not a fan of ruining relationships fake and real :v:) but some people prefer catherine.

People in this thread, so misinformed. It's not a hentai game, it's not a relationship-sim like the links in Persona, it's not to teach you anything (except maybe don't cheat). It's a psychological horror drama with puzzle-platforming. The nudity is there in a tongue and cheek way and the game really doesn't take that aspect seriously.

The platforming looks sub-par and the nudity just seems like a way to draw in hormone-driven teenage boys. I don't see the merit of the game at all.
Dunno, all the promos and marketing I've seen was either boobs, ass, very revealing clothing or all three, giving me the impression of being more of a weeaboo hentai fapfest dating game more than an actual game.
The art, the story, some people like the platforming (how can platforming be sub-par, it's just jumping from place to place) and Atlus makes very quality games (even if you don't like the weeaboo shit, Persona is a quality series) so there's a lot that's merit to a lot of people. Most of the nudity and stuff is shown in the trailers.

That's shit I'd see in an iPhone game, not some $50 title with the same stupid-looking anime artstyle and retarded looking scenario.
Okay then. If you don't like platforming, that's cool. But if you think platforming only belongs on the iPhone then... i don't know what to say to you.

If this game's selling point is some relationship drama bullshit plus some platforming, it doesn't sound like a solid base for a good game to me.
No, I wouldn't personally call myself a "hardcore" gamer but I'm sure I'd be classified as such and I love platforming, and the platforming in the demo was fast, intense and fun.
