that's like eating shit then spitting it out and someone says you're an ungrateful fuck because it's free just because it's free doesn't mean i have to like it
Except that shit you just ate took the developers 6 years to crap out.
ITT, judging an unfinished game by low graphics pictures of an unintentional leak. EDIT: Funny enough, it looks higher-quality to me then the actual Half-Life 2 leak, and this is just a spare-time, free mod.
i'll admit i did exaggerate a little but it was to get the point across
Except that shit you just ate took the developers 6 years to crap out.
That doesn't change anything
That doesn't change anything
And the shit isn't shit, it's just some over/under cooked toast.
except you pay for bread to toast
source engine just suffers from indoor lighting lack of shadowing. that's it.
Plus these maps didn't have a final light build or HDR to keep the size down on the SVN
god,so many graphic whores in here.... they made this mod in their spare time,of course it won't look perfect
I'm not graphic whore, heck I was just playing doom 2 in the original DOS form
Oh wow, I was just playing through Half-Life. In celebration of being close to the release date, I'm playing through the entire series: Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, Episode One, and Episode Two. And man, does the AI stink! I had painstakingly assembled a massive party of 2 guards and 3 scientists; it may seem like a small number, but when you're trying to walk them up a flight of stairs, it's a pain. Then, they would not, no matter how much I flattered them with shallow compliments about their ties \ helmets, pass a corner in Office Complex! It's the corridor right before the 'Whatcha Doin' Down Here' Barney. In frustration that my patient sheepherding was all in vain (I mean, I knew I would have to desert them soon, but not that soon!) I let a pair of Vorties slaughter them all. I hope that in BMS, your 'friends' can navigate over debris piles, through stairwells (gasp!) and corners without yelling that they're not moving an inch, then happily agreeing to proceed, then... you know. I mean, Valve has already perfected the technology with Alyx, why should BMS not use it? The debris pile in front of the Test Chamber elevator sticks out in recent memory. A perfectly good Barney and Scientist, perfectly useless. At least add physics, so we can shove the debris out of the way and clear the path. I would even do that, just let my herd that I patiently gathered not have to be slaughtered by a pair of Vorts because they can't navigate a sharp corner! /rant :v:
They're scientists, they don't know if debris is harmless. For all they know, it could have something that makes you forget.
Is it going to be released? I don't want to give myself false hope.
Is it going to be released? I don't want to give myself false hope.
Yes. We just don't know when.
that's like eating shit then spitting it out and someone says you're an ungrateful fuck because it's free just because it's free doesn't mean i have to like it
Plus if you ate free shit over playing a free game there is something very wrong with you. Pathfinding is apparently made from scratch so should be better than Episode 2 (no comparisons with the L4D's as far as I can see on the forum. Just the Orange Box). The Barnies should also be able to pick up better weapons when they come across them. I've managed to get every scientist possible to the lift shaft jump in office Complex. 7 scientists and 5 barnies I think.
The Barnies should also be able to pick up better weapons when they come across them.
Security Guards don't pick up weapons, but later on they spawn with stronger weapons.
I just hope black mesa source spawns some older mods that where made for half-life 1 to source engine. It'd be cool to see Sven coop 2 actually make it out.
You should be glad VALVe isn't making this. The first screen-shots you'd see would be between 50 to dead.
is it just me or did the screenshots from last year look alot better then what was just shown... meh my hopes are still on operation black mesa
Again, these are pictures of an unfinished leak, and it's not even from the current build.
Security Guards don't pick up weapons, but later on they spawn with stronger weapons.
I'm pretty sure they said that Barneys can pick up better weapons like the rebels in HL2. I always liked how they (the rebels) go from SMG to AR2 to Shotgun. I also sorta mourn a dead rebel occasionally, like when he's been with me for a few maps.

They don't even pick up an RPG when they got an AR2 in their hands.
I'm pretty sure they said that Barneys can pick up better weapons like the rebels in HL2.
They changed it.
They changed it.
Why?
this guy has a really really bad pc
Anyways I've heard this a few times on the forums, that some of the dev are tired of working on this Mod, and want to get it done "soon" Ram said while he loved working on it, hes tired, and wants to get it done and out. That it works a 6 hour job just to get home and work on it.

They've been working on this mod for the best part of six years, and when you're not paid, and you have people constantly nagging about things within the mod - even though it's clearly a work in progress - and you spend a lot of time and hard work only to have people leak it onto the internet, you can imagine why they're upset and why morale is so low.
Again, these are pictures of an unfinished leak, and it's not even from the current build.
Must've been an old video I saw. Not surprised they took it out. A lot of time spent on something that wouldn't have happened a lot anyway.
is it just me or did the screenshots from last year look alot better then what was just shown... meh my hopes are still on operation black mesa
How many times do we have to go over the fact this was an unfinished leak running on medium-low spec PC?
