That would completely bypass the original purpose of this mod...
Due to the lack of content recently, this mod is doing the same mistake it did before. People are just starting to forget this mod now.

The thing is that there's plenty of neat misc info about it, but its all on their damn wiki instead of announcing it on the main page. If they're announce that shit on their main page on a consistant basis instead of having it be holed up on the wiki that most people don't know about, then it would probably get people interested again.
I'm seriously going to go on a killing spree if this doesn't release in 2010.

Textures look TOO MUCH HD, models, however, are not.

Xen is rumoured to be the last thing they're working on. The Black Mesa team said they would not show any Xen media until the mod was released. Also, thats the read why the build these pictures are from show Xen as black. one of the Devs said something about it on the forums.

I don't care about it THAT much.
Half-Life saga has shitty graphics, but I would never change it for another game.
Content and quality is what really matters in a game...
We know Valve makes great games, Half-Life has a deep story and all... So, now I expect they improve Source Engine so that we can get a decent visual experience.

This mod has really lost my interest. I liked it in the beginning. Then they died off and I figured it didn't make it. Heard 3 reports of their revival and a close release scattered through the years. This is one of them. Don't get your hopes up people.
They're just doing this to try and reclaim some of that interest they had years ago. The sad fact is that the mod's future doesn't look good. Anyone can see that. We were told it'd be out in 2009 for fucks sake. We are now entering what year? 2011? We have been promised it by the end of this year. I don't plan on seeing a Christmas miracle from this mod.
That's overly pessimistic, but seeing that they haven't shown a glimpse of Xen I'm quite sure the big surprise about it is that it's not finished.
